Somewhere in South Lake Tahoe. Best to call them as they have a unique arrangement.

I've not found anyone on the list provided that has or is prepared to obtain a Glock 29 Gen4 barrel for single shot exemption, if anyone knows of any, please let me know.

If noone does, then I'm going to start working with a gunsmith to make a couple of barrels and I'd be happy to lend them to interested parties..

Any feedback for this long time lurker / first time poster would be appreciated

Glock 29 can fit a Glock 20 barrel. Make sure you check that, as I'm sure more people SSE the Glock 20.

Has anyone in CA ever gotten in trouble for owning an SSE'd off roster gun? Am I naive for thinking that SSE is a harmless loophole to getting an off roster gun I prefer?

I don't plan on using my future SSE gun for HD, but it is after all registered with the authorities and it is very clear to them that the gun is off roster and I am not LEO. This makes it easy to track down.

                      Any thoughts/info?

There are many ways that you can legally own a handgun which is not on the register.

It might have been on the register, but dropped later.

You could have moved in from out of state.

You could be a dual resident of another state.

You could have received it as a gift as a intrafamilial transfer.

You could have bought it through a PPT, either originally from a LEO or from someone who moved from out of state or got it through an intrafamilial transfer.

The list goes on. An off roster firearm is not illegal, the only limit is on the transfer of such a firearm, PPT is ok, FFL transfer is not unless it is an intrafamilial transfer.

if it's legal, how would you get in trouble?

I understand the idea of potential red tape if used in self defense ... we've been through this already though... just because it's not illegal, doesn't mean an overzealous DA won't try to use the "unsafe" routine...

"owning an SSE'd off roster gun" isn't illegal - so what circumstances would you think trouble could occur?

It's registered, and the correct caliber is on your CCW, no issues.

Just saying the DOJ is going through all this trouble to keep me from purchasing "unsafe firearms", and I am going through all this trouble to circumvent their legislation... Even if, technically, it is not illegal, it seems very grey, so just wondering if anyone has been caught in this legal no-man's-land, that's all.
