The best place for SSE is OC Armory. The will take care of the transfer at the best price out there. Dimitry at PD Gun Supply and Tool can do it in LA.

So I walk into a small shop in Pleasant Hill that I’ve done face to face private party transfers before to repeat business. I was the transferee. The transferor was already filling out paper work. The firearm was a Draco pistol with the single shot mag in it.

Halfway into the paperwork one of the shop guys comes out of the back and says “That’s an AK. We don’t touch AKs. We won’t do that here.”

Me and the transferor look up from our paper work, which one of the other shop guys was processing and hadn’t said anything to us.

The transferor says that the Draco is a single shot. And he had no problem getting it in CA himself. The FUD spreader asks if the mag in it right now was a single shot mag. “Yes”.

The FUD guy say, “well we don’t do those. The DoJ is cracking down on these because what happens when someone takes home an SSE pistol?”

I don’t remember if I replyed or the transferor replied but one of us said that we pop in a 10 shot mag.

So the FUD guy continues, “Right. So the DoJ is coming after us [FFL dealers]. I know guys who have lost their license because of this. They are coming after us not you”.

Then the guy goes in the back and after a few moments comes back with an AR that has a permanently fixed mag well that wasn’t such much a well than a solid block. No way to insert a mag. He says “this is the gold standard now”.

Then he says “And the DoJ is checking that you (indicating us) don’t convert it to a non single shot gun when you get home.” I thought to myself didn’t you just say they are coming after you and not us?

The transferor says “They better show up with a warrant.” And without missing a beat the FUD guy says “They are. The DoJ is making the rules.” I thought that the state had a senate that made the rules. Shows what I know about how government works.

Then the FUD guy says “I’m not gonna have that thing in my shop. I’m not going to risk my license for $10”. I think to myself, how much would you risk your license for?

The FUD guy walks away again. I’ve already been on my smart phone looking for the address of another shop in the city. I tell the transferor we can try another place that is close by.

I call up City Arms East in Pleasant Hill and ask them, hey I’ve got an F2F PPT I’d like to do involving an SSE Draco. Is that OK? City Arms says yes come on in.

Sounds about right for a gun shop employee. It remains one of the only industries where people seem to accept / support complete ignorance and incompetence.

So someone please tell me how to convert a Gen 4 to California legal? Step by step!!!! Something about a 10" barrel at least. And a plug or something? Would that go in the chamber or the clip? I am a newbie and would apprecite anything to help me out on this. Just want a Gen 4 to keep not to use. Does anyone know anyone who will convert? Legally of coarse! The gave 2 business's here in Elk Grove and Sacramento, Ca. One does not do it for the Glocks and Wild Bill's has yet to call me back. Any help will be appreciated!!!!

go buy one from the for sale section via PPT. then SSE is moot.

No, they're just ignorant and people still support them. Competency has nothing to do with the legislation of this state.

Do you plan on converting it yourself? Are you willing to buy parts? Do you know how to disassemble a Glock?

If the answers are yes to all of the above then proceed to the next series of questions.

Do you have an FFL who understands single shot exemptions? Will they be willing to transfer a gun in exempt form? Will they be willing to allow you to supply parts for the conversion?

If the answer is yes to all of the above then continue.

Will this be cheaper/easier than going through a shop who already does exemptions for a gun as common as a Gen 4 Glock?

                    No.

"collecting" Glocks as an "investment"... wants to "buy" parts for SSE... has asked questions that have been answered throughout the thread (and even spoon fed to his/her posts)...

seems a bit trollish to me

Could we get a database of Out of State Vendors that is willing to support us and ship Firearms to Dealer who is willing to accept it and perform SSE? I emailed a few places about it and receive very little response. The 2 places that responded.

So far I know that Palmetto State Armory will not ship off roster guns to dealers that are willing to accept them and perform SSE.

I am really happy about this one because I usually buy most of my parts from them and they have alot off roster guns in stock is joeboboutfitters. To find that they support us Californians makes them my go to spot to purchase firearms.

I have talked to the guys at O.C Armory they told me that can SSE about any handguns as long as I can get a Dealer to ship it to them.
We'll ship ANYTHING as long as the FFL is OK with receiving it. There are so many different FFL dealers in California that make up/interpret rules different, but if yours will convert a product and then transfer it then we have no problem sending it.

Don't email. Call. I recently purchased a high-end 1911 (off roster) and had to call a few places to find one that would ship to California for an SSE. Email is a waste of time. It took me all of 30 min. to call each store to find the right one. There are hundreds of thousands of gun stores out there. You really think we're gonna make a thread cataloging them?

Most manufacturers will NOT ship to CA. You have to have them ship to an out-of-state FFL first, to be the middle men.
