I posted this in the Center Fire - Semi Auto forum but thought I'd probe here as well:

      Here are the Build Specs:
      Franklin Armory CA7 Lower
      DD MK18 complete upper (10.3")
      Geissele Super 42 spring + H2 Buffer
      Geissele SSA-e 2 stage trigger

First time at the range with this setup and fired 200 rounds, cycled flawlessly with no failures.

However when I was rapid firing I noticed several times my finger would go to reset and pull the trigger a millisecond before the trigger had reset. If I slowed my self down a fraction of a second there was no issue. However this is slightly slower than the rhythm I'm used when rapid firing my other AR-15s.

      So the question:

      1) Is this a spring or buffer issue?

      or

      2) Does the AR - Pistol just need more rounds to "break in" and loosen up?

If it were maglocked, it would not have a detachable magazine outside the pistol grip.

It could be that you are simply not moving your finger far enough to reset the trigger.

It's possible but unlikely because the SSA-e trigger has such a short reset. I'm going back out to the range next week and will focus on my technique and see what happens.

Anyone know how long the turnaround time currently is with Franklin Armory? I made an order for a CA7 with my FFL back in July (about 7 weeks ago), and still haven't seen any updates. Was wondering if I should just cancel or if it's worth holding on a bit longer..

I apologize for the delay. One vendor of one part has created a lot of problems for the CA7. Unfortunately due to the drop test rules, we can't just use a substitute standard.

I ordered one direct from FA in April...
                        Still waiting.
By the time it's ready to ship it will be off the roster!

Can you buy one of your pistol lowers, or lower kits and have a ca legal pistol given you follow all other laws?

I do not think there is a pathway to do so unless you are LE or have some other exempt qualification.

Okay, for you guys this might not seem like such a big deal, but for me...I feel on top of Everest...I don't have a tool bench or all the toys needed to work on my CA7, so a gunsmith would have been needed for this simple task of changing my rear takedown pin. I saw a video on how to do this without removing the buffer tube. A tool is sold for this but I didn't want to order and wait....
so I used a metal file on a 1/16th Allen Wrench and slipped it in the groove of the rear pin got it under the detent then rotated the rear pin and out it came!

Then using the old pin from the other side to act as force against the detent, I used the tool to push the detent in and the old pin held it in place until I lined up the new pin from the other side, and pushed it through. I now have a dual action ARmaglock pin without removing the buffer tube....it is the little victories!

First step complete toward locking my mag and actually uniting my CMMG 9mm upper with the CA7 to make what I am hoping to be the perfect firearm.

Well the ARmaglock is installed and I can hardly wait to take that CMMG 9m girl toy to the range!

Update: Took the CMMG upper and 9mm mag conversion to the range, Best shooting ever! Beautiful, Flawless, Fun and Smooth, I think it's love!
