"Length of Pull, or LOP, is the straight line distance measured from the middle of the face of the trigger to the end of the gun’s stock or brace in it’s longest configuration. The ATF has advised that a braced pistol with an LOP in excess of 13.5” may constitute a re-design of the host pistol and subject the pistol to restrictions under the National Firearms Act."

They even sell their own limiter or I’ve seen people cut up a strike industries stock block or some other ways.

Yes it’s kind of funny, the ATF is referencing a “length of pull” on a wrist brace, but they do. You don’t want a SBR charge from the Feds.
    .
    Wow thank you for this.

I was told that "braced pistols are measured in the shortest configuration. OAL doesnt matter on a braced pistol unless you want to put a VFG on it and become a TITLE 1 other and avoid a NFA vilation for making it AOW. "

A little late to the party folks, but I'm hoping to get a little help in understanding the following:

      1. How difficult is it to remove the stock buffer tube from the CA7?

      2. In order to use an SBA3 brace, is it necessary to use the limiters they sell? If so, how many would you need ?

      Thanks in advance.

Thank for getting back to me. What tools are required to take off the buffer?

I put the lower in a vice. Then I used my wife's hairdryer on the joint for like 15 minutes. Then I used a strap wrench and a lot of oomph.

God knows why they put it on this way knowing full well almost everyone is going to take it off.

Sheesh!! Well I have a heat gun and a vice. Guess I better invest in a strap wrench. Thanks again.

As other have mentioned, the tube is a challenge to remove. I used a hair dryer and a rubber strap wrench. The lower was in a vise block.

I tried with a Channel Lock first and succeeded in doing nothing but scratching the heck out of the tube.

Used wife's hair dryer on the tube and once it was nice and warm I got it off with a strap wrench. Didn't need a vice block.

I wrapped a leather belt around it and used a channel lock wrench. You will hear a crack or snap when the adhesive loosens. Worked great for me.

                            CA7 shooting

I was finally able to fire my CA7 a few times last week. All the ranges in my area are shut down thanks to covid, but I was able to find a range with a little bit of driving.

I switched out my upper to an 11.5 DDM4V7 upper. I also added an SBA4 brace; DD grip, AR mag lock gen 4, kingpin, and larue mbt2 flat bow trigger. Over the last couple of months during the shutdown I just started buying parts little by little and the credit card took a big hit. Coronavirus cost me big time lol.

I was initially going to go with a Mk18 upper, but after much thought and reading I ended up going with the DDM4V7 upper bc I like the lower weight and slimmer mlok setup (which I have on another rifle). I definitely want to get a Mk18 upper in the future....and maybe a urgi upper too.

I was initially wondering how loud it was going to be and what kind of muzzle blast it was going to generate. It turned out to a non event. Last time out I was even next to a wall. And even though it was in a dark indoor range, I observed no fireball, lol. I used miscellaneous 556 (mag tech, Aguila, Winchester, frontier, federal) I had laying around. So no complaints with the stock upper DD set up.

Everything else performed well as well. Love the brace, love the trigger (I already had another larue). I also have a holosun 510. I bought the holosun and an Eotech at the same time....the eotech was returned. I have astigmatism, so even the holosun dot flares...but using the flip up rear aperture trick to cowitness makes the flare go away....amazing (more info on this can be found on google).

All in all, I was very impressed with the set up..]..actually I am stoked. I was expecting this setup to be a little novelty gun and expected a loud, annoying little ar pistol like the others I've seen at the range many times. It was the opposite of this perception. I could only shoot from close in out to 20 yds in the small indoor range, but I was able to get solid shooting from standing unsupported. I can't wait to get outdoors and see how it shoots out to 100 on the bench.

Big thanks for Franklin for undertaking the huge project making the CA7 available to us California folks who are operating behind enemy lines lol!

PS. I was gonna get a ruger pc carbine down the road, but I think I will just get a 9mm upper for this pistol. I think the set up is just dialed in...I know it will cost more than getting a pc carbine outright, but there is something to be said for sticking to the AR format. Hell, I'll probably follow the cal guns motto: "which XXX should I get?" ....Reply: ALL.

Right on! I can't wait to shoot mine. Hopefully in a week or two.
