I am in the same boat. I love 9mm guns but have short fingers and always look for single stack 9mm guns.
I own about 30 pistols and my favorite so far that goes with me everytime is the Springfield Armory Loaded Target 9mm 1911. Got mine from Turners in Rancho Cucamonga.

Here is a video I did on mine. Enjoy.

I've seen plenty of shooters with small hands and if strength isn't an issue either is hand size. The proper attitude and focus connected to a pair of strong hands on any adult that I seen handles 1911s, 92s and BHPs just fine.

I dare you to take a elder Veteran with arthritic hands to the pistol range, or a younger person who hasn't been shooting pistols in decades after loosing a few fingers in some kind of tragedy. What ever they were shooting before they are shooting now without complaint I assure you.

Oh, you need thin grips, oh you need some Yahoo to anoint your pistol, you need, you need you need. Try watching some truly crippled shooter on the range making do with what they have and do them the honor of being on the range with them wearing your own bucked pair of Big Boy trousers properly.
its not about strength in his case im sure. I also have short fingers and issue is reach. I have pretty good grip strength so I have no issues with recoil. The problem is manipulating slide release and mag release quickly and easily without adjusting the grip. I totally get it.

Haven't seen this suggested so I'll toss it out:

S&W 3913 or 3914. These are 3rd generation Smiths, all-metal, with frame-mounted safety/decocker levers, so just like a Beretta 92 or OPs' Firestorm. Single-stack, good solid firearms. They haven't been made for a while but were on-roster for a long while after being made - not sure about now. And I've heard that they're values are going up. There are a number of variants of these, as well, with some other numbers.

            One other is Walther.

The PPQ or similar, that have the paddle style mag release, instead of the button.
HK has that aswell on the new polymer frame pistols.

I ran a review on my Walther PK380 showing and explaining it, since it is truely ambi and very easy to reach.

Taking the interchangable backstraps on the newer polymer pistols, trigger reach should be fine aswell.

Also most modern striker fire pistols have a very short triggerreach compaired to classic dA/SA triggers.

Of course a big advantage of the 1911 plattform is, you can change and adjust the trigger length very easy and fairly cheap.
Changing the grip panels will also adapt the gripsize to nearly any handsize

Oddly enough those with hands that are big enough to handle a full size 1911 or double stack 9mm just seem to miss what the people with small hands have to go thru.

Forgive me, but I am confused and not up to date. But what is the size of a Springfield 9mm 1911? Not an EMP, but a Springfield 1911 camber in 9mm?

1911 is 1911 in trms of grip size, I would say. It`s ist mostly just a brand preference

I only have guns that come with safeties.

With that in mind, I own the following guns for CCW purposes:

                    1. 9mm Shield: Very thin. OK trigger. TONS of aftermarket options.

                    2. Sig P938: Very thin with low-profile grips. Much smaller than the shield (both length & height). Much better trigger. More accurate with this (over the shield) b/c of better trigger.

                    3. Sig P238: Much smaller than the Sig P938. Almost comically-small; I think my iphone6 plus is bigger. Recoil (.380ACP) is not that much less than a 9mm. Can fit in front jeans pocket without any bulging or printing.

                    4. Kimber Micro 9: Much more beautiful than the P938. Bonus is that it comes with a Crimson Trace laser grip - makes finding a holster MUCH more easier than the P938. Aftermarket parts are pretty much non-existent (still waiting for fiber-optic tritium night sights).

OP measure the length from the bottom of your palm to the tip of your middle finger. My hands measure at 7 inches and I can comfortably use a Hi Power, CZ with thin grips and full size 1911. You can even put a short trigger (think a basic GI 1911 instead of a modern one as they use longe triggers) on a 1911 to make it even more reachable if needed.

You mentioned the LC9. Off roster but you can find them for reasonable prices. I like the way it carried and is about the size of the shield. If you can get used to the long double action trigger (like a revolver) it is good. Mine gave me no issues.
Yes. It's one of the few off roster handguns that is not at a premium. As so many complaints about the long trigger and reset. But many have no problems with it and like the idea of a longer pull.

When a shooter self-identifies with, "...small hands....", I take them at their word. Browning High Power pistols otherwise known as a P-35, is not a pistol suitable for someone with small hands. Along with the P-35, a 1911 and a Beretta 92 are also unsuitable. It has been that way for decades as evidenced by hundreds of LEOs both State and Federal who made the claim of said pistols being too large to handle proficiently.

It has been my experience that when shooters mention 'small hands' that an issue also exists of not having sufficient hand strength. When the OP replied back to my hand strength related post he claimed he had an ample amount of strength to handle whatever pistol he was having issues with.

I replied back to the OP with my 1st hand experience assisting other shooters who are, or were then, besieged with missing fingers or ill health who, if they could, stepped forward and shot whatever pistol they had at their disposal without complaint or excuse.

The rest of the problem will have to be addressed in alphabetical order.

It is the obvious choice if you want small sub compact and on the roster.
