I love reading threads like this, especially when the vendor comes in and explains not only what they are doing but why.
Hopefully more of us pay attention.

If the were the case then the 1911 I make would be allowed on the list without testing or examination, since it is identical to a Colt or any other mil-spec 1911, however that's not the case. If I used all Colt, Kimber etc internal parts the pistol would be identical except for a cosmetic exterior change. A cosmetic change is sufficient to cause exclusion, look at the Sig p238's as an example. All of that being said I have reached out to the overlords at the DOJ to see what the exact answer is, I'll keep you apprised.

I, for one, Am happy to see someone not give up on the fight against the DOJ. They make it harder and harder to try and make others give up.

            My points remain:

            1) No valid info that Kimber is leaving CA exists.

            2) A simple supplier source change does not cause a gun to no longer be on roster if the design of the part remains the same.

If you have differnt info please provide it.

Somewhere in one of the zillion threads here at CG is the info on this.
CA looks at any change in any part as requiring new testing.
New testing means microstamping is also required.
The location of where the part is made, any changes to the process of how the part is made, any changes in material, etc.
Changing vendors for an out-sourced part would be an issue.
Yes it is draconian but that is exactly what they planned all along.

What CA is demanding is that the entire manufacturing operation essentially be frozen in time, with everything done exactly the same forever.
The manufacturing world does not work this way.
It is constantly evolving in the quest for the required quality at the lowest possible cost.
We will see the end of all new semi-auto sales in CA sometime soon.
All makers will be affected, whether they want to be or not.

I read it to. Did a search but could not find it. Why not try searching on your own, since you are the only one who thinks this is false.

Keen this is from 11 CCR 4070

                        (c) A handgun model may be removed from the Roster for any of the
                        following reasons:

                        (1) If the annual maintenance fee is not paid as set forth in
                        subdivision (b) of Penal Code s 12131.

                        (2) If it is determined that the handgun models submitted for
testing were modified in any way from those that were sold after
                        certification was granted
                        .

My emphasis, but as I said I'll make contact Monday AM and see what they say

                          Thanx, LowThudd.
                          Your google-fu is strong.

Not everybody reads the 2A forum.

                          Here also:
Under California's "Unsafe Handgun Act," any new semi-automatic pistol introduced into that state must comply with microstamping laws. In addition, California asserts that anything other than a cosmetic change to a handgun already on the California Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale, including performance enhancements and other improvements, requires it to be removed from the roster and retested. For semi-automatic pistols, this means it must comply with the microstamping requirements, as well.

                          Bold added.

Oh, and thank you Full Spectrum for doing this!

Granted the text of the law says may but I think we are fairly safe to assume that will be interpreted as shall, unless of course the proper homage is paid to the over lords in the form of the correct sacrifice
