Does anyone know what you have to do if you have a Solano County CCW permit and move out of the county?

Hey guys what's the interview like?Comment
-
I had an appointment to drop off my app and they just checked to make sure I had all the paperwork in the hallway. Never had an interview. I assume they call you in for an interview only if something needs clarification on your background or application.Comment

I dont know if you would call it an interview but while dropping off the application, He went line by line on the application but also approved it on the spot and signed it. He told me that he does this in order to streamline the process. I guess it depends on who does it. I thought Kellie would be the one but I have been there for all three occassions and have yet to meet her. I figure unless something has changed, they wouldnt need to interview you for a renewComment

Has anyone here listed a handgun on their application that isn't on the DOJ roster because it lacks a red chamber indicator, etc? I moved here with a few handguns that don't meet that requirement but was told by the DOJ that they're fine, considered imports, and that I just cannot sell them in the state. Just wondering if I'll have any backlash if I try to list them for concealed carry.Last edited by Kubes; 11-17-2015, 12:01 PM.Comment

You can sell any gun in this state that you own regardless of roster. And I believe as long as the gun is registered in its original configuration you can list it.Comment

You can sell a non-rostered handgun in this state, but it must be a Private Party Transfer. Which means it must be a face-to-face transaction at a CA FFL dealer (so if you live in Sacramento and you want to buy a non-roster handgun from a person in San Diego, you've got a long drive ahead of you).Has anyone here listed a handgun on their application that isn't on the DOJ roster because it lacks a red chamber indicator, etc? As for non-rosetted guns on your CCW permit, as long as your county sheriff doesn't have a rule against it, there's no problem with that. All of my CCW-listed guns are non-rostered.
The only thing that might hinder you is if you changed the caliber of your non-rostered gun (like if it was an old Single Shot Exemption gun). The sheriff sometimes insists that the caliber of the gun match the record CA DOJ has on file in AFS.
But otherwise, you should be able to get your non-rostered handgun listed on your permit.Comment

What if the single shot exemption was done in the same caliber as the gun is? Like you have an off roster Shield that was transferred with a single shot exemption but done in 9mm?Comment
-
Then it shouldn't be a problem. Because the gun will still have the same caliber in the state AFS that you purchased it in.
Only if you change calibers might it cause a problem.Comment

SSE guns like this are easy to fix, albeit not free to do so and can take time. One of the following will get it done:
- Opreg to spouse, then back again
- Loan to friend for more than 30 days (requires DROS)
- Pawn gun, then reacquire
Any of these will get the entry in the database fixed.Comment

Good Cause Statement
I live in Solano County and I am filling out my application. I am wondering if there is anyone that has successfully applied and received there CCW is willing to share what they put for there good cause statement. I saw that Solano County does not just accept "for self defense".
I also was wondering if anyone knows if the petitioned good cause statements for each county are still available and if so where I could find them.
Thank YouComment
