    I went down to apply, but my SJSCO approval came through first. I live in Manteca.

        Interviewed way back 5/30
        Got a call from investigator this morning. He just reviewed some prior police calls to our home ( a burglary and an ambulance call out) as well as a prior seat belt conviction. Said still need his report written and then a captain and the Sheriff Moores approval but we should hear back within a week.
        Getting closer... Looks like it should happen just under 9 months.

            BG investigator called today, I applied on May 21st. They wanted written policy from my employer telling them I could or could not carry at work, not just my verbal that I would not carry at work.

            Told the BG investigator I no longer have need for their permit and he could move on to the next person.

                Sort of, I spent 16 years as a LEO, left before I reached retirement age so at that time I did not qualify for retirement credentials. One of the guys I worked with heard I had applied for a permit via the SO and told me about;

                The law enforcement officers safety act.

                I met definition a "qualified retired law enforcement officer" having over 10 years of service and left service in good standing.

                Contacted the current Sgt. in charge of ID's and within 2 weeks had my ID which is good in all 50 states, no fees, qualify once a year.

                            Well things have certainly changes here in SJ. Can you imagine your odds a few years ago slipknot? The Sheriff has certainly taken big steps in the right direction and he should be appreciated and supported.
