A few paragraphs into the article there was a brief mention of the CCW issue.

8 out of 10 shots in a 12" circle from 7 yards. Sounds easy enough until you pick up the pace.

When you say "pick up the pace", how much time are you talking? Is it timed? Rapid fire?

The qualifier I shot during PC832 was what I believe Sac County uses for CCW's. It's probably a little different than others, but I think the general idea is about the same.

          String 1:
3yds, draw from holster, elbows at sides, hands at waist level.
Fire 6 rounds, reload, Fire 6 rounds (30 seconds on a timer)

          String 2:
7yds, draw from holster, both hands, aimed shooting
Fire 6 rounds, reload, Fire 6 rounds (30 seconds)

          String 3:
15yds, draw from holster, both hands, aimed shooting
Fire 6 rounds, reload, Fire 6 rounds (45 seconds)

          Standard B-27 silhouette target
I believe 80% (29/36) need to be in the 7 ring (HUGE area)

I was a little intimidated at first, but it was very easy. I scored 36/36 through 3 qualifiers, and I always finished shooting with over 15 seconds to spare. That was the first time I was able to rapid fire, so since I've been shooting USPSA for a few years, I'm sure it will be even easier.

It has been approx. 6 weeks since Moore's public statement regarding his good cause requirement. Has anybody that has since applied heard anything?

Also, a reminder: Pat Withrow is having a fundraiser Saturday April 12th, Steak, Catfish and Blues @ the Stockton Civic, 5:00 PM. Tickets are still available, $50 a head. I actually have a few for sale myself.
If it ain't broke, keep fixin' it 'til it is...

Nope... Nothing. And it's been almost 5 weeks since my interview. I'm guessing it will go the full 90 days unless something is finalized with peruta before.

So do you guys even think it's worth going in for the interview and turning in the App right now? My appointment is tomorrow.

No one really knows. It's just a shot in the dark until someone actually gets approved(or denied) with self defense as their good cause. If your not going to be heart broken about waisting $150 if you get denied then I say go. Otherwise wait until someone hears and push your interview date back.

My application review / interview is tomorrow at 1300 hours. I plan on pursuing PC 26185 so I do not have to pay for live scan again.

This will be the 3 or 4th time I have applied with SO and I have done 3 with Manteca PD since 2007

All denied on good cause grounds.

Guess being a Paramedic in Stockton dealing with Gangs / Bangers, working for a Class 3 FFL dealer in Elk Grove, and the transportation of said weapons / equipment / suppressors has not been good cause enough.

So now it Personal Protection / Self Defense.

I've paid more in fees, time off of work, qualification testing with MPD, multiple 16hr CCW classes, live scan fees, just to get told get a taser or pepper spray, or hire private security. Taser I did buy back in 2008, X26c.

As well as 6 years of paying and attending Basic/Advanced Handgun Classes and Close Quarters classes.

The ludicrous thing about this whole situation ( other than the fees/cost and denials ) is that if I lived a county North, East or South of SJCo I would have had my CCW years ago.

You can run a back ground / priors search in a PD vehicle but it takes 4 weeks for a live scan? Only takes 10 days for your DROS.

I recommend everyone apply if you have the means.

Got a call back from SJSO, my background is complete. My application is being forwarded to the Sherif for approval/disapproval. Was told I should have an answer in a week or so.

I just had my interview with Lt. Wright. He said the average turn around time for live scan is 3 weeks. He has been getting some back as early as a week.
He told me the biggest reason for rejection for moral cause, us undisclosed arrests. Any arrests, out of state, DUI, any expunged convictions.

He said I should been done in 4-6 weeks.

Finished my interview with Lt. Wright as well... He said approx 4 weeks time because I've already been live scanned / applied.

I have applied multiple times in the past with SJCo Sheriff and since I had paid my Live Scan Fees and Co Fees in the past, all that was required was 52$ for the back ground. Did not have to refinger print.

Walked in, introduced myself to the staff behind the desk. They had me fill out a supplamental form in a folder, ( Name Address, etc etc... same stuff on the DOJ app ), got a copy of my old CCW applications, added it the new file, took a copy of my drivers lic, and then a head shot photo for records.

Waited a few minutes for Lt Wright. He took me back to the interview room.

We went over the forms and signed the appropriate docs.

He was already aware that if previously applied applicants that paid fees are not required to repay.

                              Advised on the time frame.

We shook hands said our goodbyes.

I wrote a 52$ check to SJCo Sheriff. presented with a receipt and went home.

                              25min process max.

Thank you to the staff and Lt. Wright for being professional.

Let's hope the Sheriff doesn't deny me for a 4th time. There is nothing in my background that would justify denial on moral character.

According to my talk with him, you should be approved. He said pending a clear background and gmc, anyone who apply will be approved.
Told me also they are taking apps 3 days a week, to speed up the process.
