Gonna Grab an SUV from my AZ place this weekend so I have something to lock my guns in, I only have my motorcycle in CA so more than likely that won't work. What can I expect at Devore? I've never been there other than to drop off my renewal paperwork. I assume the new renewal class will be like the old initial class. How is check in normally? Also do they require ammo to be locked? I know AVGC needed both ammo and guns locked the last time I went.

I have never done the range/class there.

So im in the same situation as you, submitted application middle Feb of 2023, interviewed, paperwork and livescan done 07/12/23 then silence. Missed a call last week from 9094733894 and didn't leave a voicemail so i assumed it was spam like you did. never got another call or anything. Cut to today and i see your post and recognize the number you posted so i call the CCW unit at 9094733893 and talk to the woman who answered and she said yup that was probably them calling from the 3894 number to set up my training / qualification....( i was told they call from a private number so was expecting that to show not spam ) she said the January class is now full and that they will call me at some-point to schedule for the next class in feb i guess...... so i turned of my t-mobile scam caller thing to see if that helps and i guess ill just be picking up every spam call hoping its the CCW unit. This is a dumb system in 2023/2024 with the amount of spam calls we get, they cant even leave a simple VM saying hey please call us back... like common, well maybe we will meet at the next training class lol

2/23 - Applied
07/12/23 - Live-scan and pictures taken
12/26/23 - missed call from 9094733894 no VM left no email only one call
1/18/24 - Call from Private Number Informing me I cleared all checks and to schedule my range day for 2/10/24 also got email later in the day with range/class info

So looking like its going to be right at almost a year from start to finish for me. Hope this helps anyone on a similar time line

Providing an update as I just got a call from SB Sheriff.

May 2023 First Interview: took and reviewed my paper work. Had to schedule second interview due to their system being hacked
July 2023 Second Interview: did live scan
Jan 2024 just received a call today to confirm my range date
Feb 2024 Range date to qualify

Patience continues...

I seem to be in the same boat... my timeline is the same as the original poster expiring October 15.
I called the office one week prior to my extension expiring and they said I cannot carry once it does expire and to just to be patient that they're working as quickly as they can...
I had also emailed them my concern and pretty much received the same reply...
I know it's not really possible but I just wish there was a way to check on the status - to know if you've been lost in the process or not.

anyone that has done the range day at the SBSD academy spot can maybe answer a question I have.

So they email says to bring 50rds of factory ammunition, all my ammo when I purchase it I throw away the cardboard box and put my ammo in either velvet pouches (crown royal) or in hard plastic boxes made for ammunitioj storage. question is , will they think they are reloads or give me a hard time because my ammo is not in its original boxes?

You will be fine any way you carry your ammunition. I took mine in a ziplock bag since I store them loose in ammo cans. Might look a little ghetto haha but you'll be fine

When I went a few weeks ago they didn't even check. I saw some folks loading out of the solid green MTM reloading ammo boxes. The whole course of fire and general atmosphere is pretty chill.

No, they wanted mags empty. They'll have you load them after your firearms inspection. There is ample time, they are trying to kill an 8hr day to satisfy DOJ, so there is no rush.

I wonder if the folks like me that went in and got the paper permit, will get the plastic card sent to them? Or, I are we stuck with the paper permit until the next renewal?
