Gotcha, was wondering if anyone has received their new card doing the new 2024 renewal with the new online system. Mine still says "pending proof of training" granted I submitted it twice... Wonder if others are like that.

I emailed the CCW office with this question. They quickly responded that they will not be re-issuing cards for those of us with paper permits.

Some of us have carried the paper version for years!

I currently have a pistol on my permit that is registered to my wife, SBSD had no issue with it and always said it was fine.

I have my renewal coming up, and did I hear correctly that with SB2 this would no longer be allowed? Or am I wrong?

SEC. 12. Section 26162 is added to the Penal Code, to read:
26162. (a) Prior to the issuance of a license, renewal of a license, or amendment to a license, each licensing authority with direct access to the designated Department of Justice system shall determine if the applicant is the recorded owner of the particular pistol, revolver, or other firearm capable of being concealed upon the person reported in the application for a license or the application for the amendment to a license under this chapter.

It needs to be in the AFS registered to yourself. Spouses guns are no longer GTG. There were a few in my renewal in January that couldn't qualify with the guns they brought because they were registered to a a spouse.

Anyone heard if SBCSD is going to outsource any ccw training? Apparently counties are posting lists of DOJ certified instructors now. Sure would love an online course or one that’s 4hrs each.
                  I have this from Fresno.

Have you looked at their fee's?
The two I looked at were $145 and $150.

Yes. I?d pay it for more convenience.

They're isn't anything after submitting about what the appointment is for so I emailed. It is at Institution Rd, check in at the CCW office, bring your guns and ammo, but leave them in the car. Class is 8hrs per the new law. Not sure if there is another fee once there.

Also the app printout after completing is messed up a bit..stuff doesn't fit on lines, no place for references. It also asks for all previous addresses, but on printout says addresses in the past 5 years, so now I have my old address from over 10 years ago on there that isn't required. Hopefully doesn't affect anything.
Thanks for posting this, I just completed the new renewal application and got a class date. It is pretty confusing about what happens on the class date or even if that is what it is for. Question: It sounds as if there will be an additional fee on the class day for the range? I thought SBSD only accepts money orders in person, but how do I do that without knowing the amount? Can anyone confirm? Also so do need to print the renewal application and bring it on class day? Thanks.

I for one won't pay that if SBCSD is not charging extra for their renewal class.

So here's the breakdown from when I went the second week in January. There is no additional fee, just show up early to check in. They will look at your CA drivers license, or CA ID card, they will take your pic for the new permit and send you up to the classroom. They go over range safety and fairly promptly up to the range. Be sure to leave your guns and ammo locked up in your car. You'll drive them up to the range and take them out there. Leave mags and speed loaders empty. They will inspect your guns, then have you load mags. You'll do the normal shooting, 5rds then 5 again into a target that has had the center blown out from everyone else shooting at it. Once complete you'll get your range card, then pack up your guns in your car and drive back. There is an hour lunch (bring lunch) and the generic classroom stuff the rest of the day. You'll need your permitium login as you will take pics of a few forms to upload and at the end of class they will give you a certificate of completion which you also have to take a pic of and upload. My permitium still says "pending proof of training submission" so I don't know if the forms uploaded right of if that's normal process, who knows. Hopefully that helps some of you.

                              New Applicant

Had first interview in June 2023 in Victorville, deputy informed me they had been hacked and ransom-wared by the Russians, had second interview in July 2023 and everything seemed to go well. Submitted paperwork, paid money orders, and fingerprints taken. Was told to wait for contact to schedule training and range day. Haven't heard a sound since then!
Should I keep waiting? Is this normal? How will they contact me, in the past they called. If I fail to answer will they leave a message? Anyone with previous experience in the High Desert that can provide insight would be greatly appreciated!
