The law was signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom in September as part of California Democrats' efforts to implement gun restrictions following numerous mass shootings.

It would have prohibited people from carrying firearms in 26 places, including public parks, public demonstrations and gatherings, amusement parks, churches, banks, zoos, and ?any other privately owned commercial establishment that is open to the public," according to the bill. The law was scheduled to go into effect Jan. 1.

I am glad that Supreme Court, as of late, has remained neutral and pro constitution lately. I just wonder what Newscum is trying to sneak by? He governs like a close up magician

I have not read the court paperwork so I am not sure if the entire law was blocked or only parts. Maybe a legal expert can shed some light on that.

If this is the one you are referring to it is for NEW applications.

Employees Resources will contact you to schedule your firearms safety course date. Penal Code Section 26165, requires all CCW permit holders to attend a mandatory 8-hour training course before issuance of a new CCW permit (Please review all pertinent links below).

Yup, that's what I saw. So who knows what they'll do going forward.

Interesting info in the SB2 ruling on page 40 of 49:
The Violence Policy Center collects statistics regarding non-self-defense killings CCW permitholders have committed since 2007.
Violence Policy Center: Concealed Carry Killers, available at
https://concealedcarrykillers.org/. In the sixteen years since that time, there is only evidence of four such incidents in California, with five total associated deaths. Id. at https://concealedcarrykillers.org/california/; see Wolford, 2023 WL 5043805, at *32

Sad that times were acually good in 2023. We only had 4! approved CCW training vendors. AVGC was $35 for requal. Can only wait and see hoops to jump through and how cost prohitbitive they will make the process going forward.

Anyone hear San Bernardino Sheriff’s office stance on SB2 & enforcement? I saw Tulare County Sheriff put out a statement saying they will not enforce SB2, and are still actively advocating CCW holders to exercise their rights. Curious if anyone has seen anything out of SBDO.

My permit expires in April and I saw on FB that they have new info up on their website. I went and looked and saw that they are showing SB2 type requirements. They have a link to a renewal schedule that has a number to call to make an appointment. I called and was told that some of the info they have up was put up too early. They are launching a new process that I was told would be live next week. When I asked about when it would be live she couldn't tell me. Anyone renewing in the next few months should check their site again next week, probably late in the week.
                    Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

So im in the same situation as you, submitted application middle Feb of 2023, interviewed, paperwork and livescan done 07/12/23 then silence. Missed a call last week from 9094733894 and didn't leave a voicemail so i assumed it was spam like you did. never got another call or anything. Cut to today and i see your post and recognize the number you posted so i call the CCW unit at 9094733893 and talk to the woman who answered and she said yup that was probably them calling from the 3894 number to set up my training / qualification....( i was told they call from a private number so was expecting that to show not spam ) she said the January class is now full and that they will call me at some-point to schedule for the next class in feb i guess...... so i turned of my t-mobile scam caller thing to see if that helps and i guess ill just be picking up every spam call hoping its the CCW unit. This is a dumb system in 2023/2024 with the amount of spam calls we get, they cant even leave a simple VM saying hey please call us back... like common, well maybe we will meet at the next training class lol

Slow to roll for SBCSD. Mine expires in April as well. I'm debating just letting the dang thing expire. I've had it for 10 years. Its a lot of time/money/effort to keep it renewed now for a useless permit. For me I telework 4-5 days a week. I don't leave home at all. When I do leave it's on the weekends with the fam to go to our house in Arizona where I don't need a CA permit. My family does all it's recreating in Arizona where I also have an AZ permit that is actually worthwhile. I just keep asking myself why I still bother with the CA one.when I never use it. IDK, just thinking out loud.

For those who's following this, the stay over the injunction on SB2 was overturned earlier today 1/6/2024. The injunction will prohibit part of SB2 going into effect. If you want to know more details just google May vs Bonta

                            My permit expires on 10-15-2023.
08-04-23 = watched the three CCW renewal videos using the links from the SBSD CCW website and completed the CCW Policy Renewal Attestation 2023 form.
08-08-23 = completed the CCW renewal training at the Route 66 Shooting Sports Park.
08-09-23 = turned in my CCW renewal packet at the SBSD CCW unit and advised them of two changes (job title change and drop/add new handgun). they took my picture and gave me the 120 day extension card. they advised that I can not carry my new handgun, until I receive my new CCW permit. they also advised that I will receive a phone call informing me when I can come and pick up my new CCW permit.
                            Update:
12-15-23 = received a phone call from a private number (no displayed numbers), which went to voice mail due to me being in a business meeting. Voice mail was from the SBSD CCW unit and instructed me to email the CCW unit with my info, in order to schedule a date/time to pick up my new CCW permit. I sent off an email with the requested info and received an email response informing me that I will receive another phone call on 12-18-23 for set up scheduling.
12-18-23 = received another phone call from a private number (no displayed numbers) and the deputy advised me that the soonest I can schedule to pick up my new CCW permit is 01-03-23. So, I scheduled a time on 01-03-23 to pick up my new CCW permit. I can still carry before picking up my new CCW permit, because the pick up date is covered within the 120 day extension card.
                            Update #2:
12-19-23 = received another phone call and the deputy advised that an unforeseen issue has come up that will cause a schedule conflict on 01-03-24, so I need to schedule another day for pick up. New pickup day is now 01-04-24.
                            Update #3:
12-04-24 = picked up permit. They issued a paper permit, advised that it can legally be cut down to size and laminated. They also advised by the time a renew again, that they should be back to issuing a plastic credit card sized permit.

It looks like they added the online portal for initial and renewal applications:

They are now requiring marriage licenses (for woman only/name change) for renewals.

In the past that was only if the name change was recent.
