You have to carry it in the caliber that is listed in the CA data base.
SBSD policy, for approving handguns listed on the permits they issue, requires the handgun to match what is listed in AFS.

AFS will list the handgun's type, action, make, model, serial number, caliber, and barrel length.

Example for a Glock 19 listed in AFS...
    pistol, semi-auto, Glock, 19, ABC123, 9mm, 4.02"

Another question. I moved to CA about 18 months ago and have an off roster pistol.

I did register it with CFARS/CRIS site in June of last year and yet it is still "In Progress".

Will this be an issue when I am putting them down on my permit or even for carrying? God forbid if I am ever in a situation where I have to defend myself or my family with my carry gun and get hit in the face by the courts because it was an off roster gun or some stupid law about it not completing registration.

      thanks

A number of us have off roster firearms listed. It is not an issue.

thank you. Found some older threads regarding this as well.

Edit: DOJ processed it last year in about 2 weeks. They never updated the CFARS portal so it shows In Progress but they did process pretty quickly.

            Hmmm...

The gun being off-roster isn't an issue, but if the registration is still "in progress", will SBSD be able to confirm the registration with DOJ and approve the pistol?

Hopefully DOJ moving at the speed of hot turd drying on a winter day doesn't cause any issues.

I read that someone else had a similar issue. They printed out the application/submittal form from the CFARS website and gave it to the deputy doing the interview. Not sure what the outcome was.

              Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Well I got through to someone at the Firearms Bureau.

Apparently, they sent out a letter last year to me regarding the status of my application but I never got it...

Now have to send in another form to request my record to see if they actually got registered under my name. fun times.

I got an email back from Sarah that they can't run a check until I complete the class.

I am 99% sure that they are registered (can't think of any reason why it would be denied) but want to make sure before I have my class and qualification. I asked via CFARS portal and they said they will mail me out a new letter so waiting in that. Also put in a separate request via the AFS to get my firearms records as well just in case.
