It was a typo. Edited above, 8/27 to 10/3. Like I said, just over 5 weeks. Not bad considering the circumstances.

In case anyone was curious I was able to get an appointment for my initial CCW interview on 6/10 (delayed from original scheduled date of 4/02 due to C-19)

I got a call in late August and they offered me a class date of 9/04, but I had to take 9/10 due to my father's passing

Could have done my range quals at Prado the next day or Saturday, but I had to delay them until 9/18 at Prado

I received my initial permit on 9/30 [8 business days after my range quals]

Personally, I can't say enough good things about the SBSD and Sheriff McMahon

Each of my trips were from the San Bernardino mountains and I never gave a thought to the varying distances and times

All renewal paperwork submitted and range completed 8/27, renewal card in mail on 10/3. So just a hair over 5 weeks. Just some info for those waiting for renewal

That's some encouraging news. Good for you. Still waiting on my renewal permit to arrive. It has been 8 weeks since completed paperwork and range on 8/8. Don't feel right to bug them to check on the status but hopefull it arrives any day now.

That depends on you. You have 3 chances to qualify. Each opportunity requires 10 rounds of factory ammo.

You need to take 30 rounds per firearm with you to the range.

From what I'm hearing, it's fairly easy....shooting from 5 yards.

Well that's how it was when the department was running it. It might be different now that 3rd party ranges are doing it. Might have to call them and see.

Here's what the AVGC says you need to bring:

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING:

Your CCW that you are renewing
Up to 3 guns that you are putting on your permit
2 magazines or speed loaders for each gun
A minimum of 30 rounds of ammunition for each gun (must be factory new, no re-loads or steel core)
Eye & Ear Protection

They used to, I did my class on a Saturday. Though that was a few years ago before your home town went crazy, you know with the virus and all.

CCW Class at SBSD this morning and range qualification just now at Prado, all done in one day. Pretty efficient considering everything.
