There used to be (maybe there still is) another guy with my first and last name (different middle) and we were born one year and one day apart. My name isn't too common and there was twice in my youth I almost went to jail on his warrants! In all fairness I was pretty irresponsible back then and he may have been jailed on one of mine.
If there is some one else with my name I'm probably helping him out.

I'm prior military with a mid level security clearance and I've held an FFL for years.

My brother interviewed 8/8 and is also prior military. He did have a security clearance but he served 17 years while I only did my 4. It took just as long for his to come in as he was called on Tuesday.

I really think it is just a luck of the draw.

    Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Well I'm glad you got called anyway, you can see a light at the end of the tunnel.

You may end up being used as an example of how not to dress to be the "gray man"

I'll wear a Magpul or Kimber hat and that's about it.

Well seeing as you put it that way; maybe I'll wear something different.

Class was a breeze... Informative on Cal and Fed law, a couple things I didn't know and I'm glad I do now, mostly along the lines of transporting a loaded firearm in a vehicle and if it isn't "on your person" then the old rules still apply. It was an honor to attend the last Apple Valley class with Capt. Marhoefer. Got to sit by and briefly meet fellow Calgunner jmysk as well.

Qualifying is a snap. There was a little snafu with a stiff safety on my 1911, but we worked through it. There were a couple folks that struggled a bit, but they got them through it.

That is one of the things that makes the 3-gun limit a pain in CA.

If we were limited to 6, or unlimited (most states don't even list, you qualify for pistol, revolver, or simply "handgun") then it would not be a big deal for me to have "my 3" and my wife to have "her 3" and then when we are the only people in a vehicle, transport is NBD.
Likewise, if she wants me to watch her purse while going into the ladies' room, again, no problem.

But limited to 3, we would have to "waste" one of our precious 3 for their primary, and if either is carrying secondary, then it's back to having to change procedure.

                          AFAIK...

As a valid carry permit holder, if it is not on you and you are the only person in the vehicle, then it needs to be concealed.
There are no requirements for it to be unloaded and in a locked container, because you are the sole occupant and have a valid carry permit for the handgun.

Since you are not in possession of the handgun, the other occupants of the vehicle can be charged with illegal conceal carry in a vehicle [PC 25400(a)(3)] and/or possessing loaded firearm in a vehicle in public [PC 25850(a)].
