I'm trying to get my job history together for the CCW application. I've had quite a few jobs when i was younger, some under the table and getting dates has proven to be quit a feat. How accurate do these dates have to be?

Honestly.. the dates I had on my application were my best guess. It didn't seem to affect my application.

I was unsure of a number of jobs in the 80s (though they only care about the last 10 years, that only covered 2 jobs for me)
I pulled a request with Social Security. The detail report was not cheap, but it gave the full employment history.

Of course, under the table jobs won't show, simply indicate "unemployed doing side jobs" or whatever the best description is.

Interview: 4/19
Range date (got call about 2 weeks prior): 8/13
currently waiting on permit.

Class was in Devore. Shooting is cake, and I consider myself a pretty new shooter. Clear instructions are given the whole time. Here it is as I recall, may vary a little.

First everyone checks in their gun. After you have checked in, you can load 5 rounds in each mag. Do not put mag in gun, and keep gun in case.

Our class had 18 on the line at once, with 1 instructor per 2 applicants.

You walk up to the 5 yard line, place your bag/gear in front of you, and wait instruction. You will be told to take both mags and place in your off hand pocket. Once everyone has done that, you will be instructed to remove your weapon and stand ready (gun pointed down at 45 angle downrange ) with a Master Grip (finger off trigger).

Once everyone is in that stance, they will instruct you to go into your fire stance. Here they are just checking everyone's grip to make sure no one is doing something majorly wrong/stupid. Once they are satisfied everyone is ok, you will be instructed to load and make ready to fire. Insert mag, chamber round, stand ready with gun at 45 angle with master grip.

Once the command is given to fire, you bring up your gun, shoot your 5 rounds, drop mag (keep finger off trigger as you reload!), reload, shoot last five, drop mag, go back to ready stance, finger off trigger. Instructor will ask you to make sure weapon is clear (visual and pinky in breech), mag out, and place gun down at your feet. If you passed, he'll mark off your card, you put your gear away, and go back and wait for everyone else to finish.

Hope that helps those worried about it. You aren't shooting alone with 80+ people watching you, if that makes you nervous. Really the only one watching you is the instructor, and they all seemed pretty chill. Everyone else on the line is concentrating on their own target, and the rest of the class is 30+ yards back waiting their turn. All instructions are clearly and loudly given, and plenty of time is given between each step. Just listen, take your time, take a couple of deep breaths, use basic gun safety, gun down range at all times and finger off trigger until shooting, and you'll pass no problem. GL.

My father in law was in your class yesterday... he qualified with 3 guns... said there were tons of people. My class only had around 35 people but mine was on a monday.

I wore cargo shorts and a polo shirt. There is no need to dress to impress. All Deputy Diaz did was confirm my good cause statement, confirm info on my app. Updated a phone number. Did not play 20 questions. After I did the supplemental paper work had me write "traffic only" for police interactions. Confirmed my answers on alcohol and said "works for me", handed me the info sheet for classroom and range day and said don't call us, we'll call you when background is complete.
There were a couple women that were sisters ahead of me and what I learned talking to one of them, they seemed to get a little more thorough screening on good cause. The whole thing was absolutely no big deal.

I've been told that anyone weeded out in (or before) the interview will not be forwarded to Livescan or had their money orders taken.

Haha.. that's true. I suppose if they weeded you our in the interview they wouldn't have you pay money for the livescan.. I too didn't think the Interview was difficult but I did find it a little nerve racking, but if you're honest on your application and in your interview answers, you have nothing to worry about.

I had Dep. Diaz as well, super cool and seems to really believe in good people carrying. He did ask me out of the blue "Are you nervous?". I didn't think I was putting off that vibe but just said "No not at all". When I finished livescan and got my range paperwork from the clerk lady I heard him ask the guy after me the same thing, maybe trying to rattle people a little bit.

No but my interview date was 7-20. With a 31.5 year career as a fireman I don't think the background check will be a big deal. Why would they weed me out?

Question for those who work for a large corporation.
My HR person is far away from Southern California.
Did you have them send the employer check to HR?
Or a local supervisor?
