I shot my renewal qualification at Apple Valley and they said to bring 30 rounds. I shot 10 rounds with each gun. 5 shots, reload, 5 more. Perhaps they allow you to try more than once if needed. And yes, it is at 5 yards. Pretty easy.Comment

Exactly. I did my range qualification on Sat.
I did mine at Prado and the instructor was very chill. He straight out told us everyone will qualify today! At 5 yards, its hard not to.Comment

You would be surprised how many miss the target or hit the target well out side the triangle even when shooting from 5 yards. I suspect for some it is the pressure of the "test".
