Made my appointment this morning for May 14th at the Rancho Cucamonga Council Chambers. I talked to her about the new re-qualification requirement on our handguns and she didn't have any information to offer. Sooooo, we wait.

I just went to the renewal class today. Deputy was very funny, cracking jokes (especially about firefighters). He skimmed through all the stuff you should already know pretty quick. He showed a couple scenarios then Sheriff McMahon came in and talked to the class. He spent about 30-45 minutes thanking us, showing support and asking questions.

He was asked about any changes to training requirements and he deferred back to the Deputy who said renewals are not changing as of right now. Overall it was a great class and very funny which you would never expect. Big thanks to SBSD for making the renewal process a breeze.

My next renewal isn't until 2020, but does anyone know if they require you to have a real ID? Not going to go through the hassle if it's not needed.

If your CDL is current then you should be good.
The Real ID isn't really as big a hassle as some make it.

Not a fan of sitting at the DMV, my current license will expire before the LTC renewal and I plan on doing the online renewal for the non real ID DL if SBSD accepts it.

Make a DMV appointment at a smaller office, have your paperwork ready, be done with it.

The river is calling your name. Head to Blythe for the weekend. Leave early enough to get there before they close on Friday afternoon. I've been there twice and there were only 3 other people there on both occasions.

                  Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

I'll do a remote location if I need it, but if SBSD doesn't require it, I'm renewing online lol, has anyone renewed with a non real ID?

                      I will be.

But it's not a federal limits apply license either.

Ya, my regular ID will be expired by then, and I'll have a Fed limits ID on renewal.

Real ID applies to TSA boarding a plane which takes affect Jan 2020, in which case a passport will suffice instead.

However, a non Real ID will be marked with federal limits apply and as such will also not allow you to purchase a firearm.

I'm not sure if instead a passport can be used for a firearm purchase or not in CA.

"Californians who want to make sure they have zero problems purchasing a firearm in the future may want to consider applying for and acquiring a REAL ID through the DMV. Remember these licenses can be used to board airplanes, gain access to military bases, and other federal facilities in 2020. Californians will not be able to use their non-REAL IDs for these purposes after 2020 and will be required to provide some other form of identification."

I would take the advice and get the REAL ID instead, definitely with an appointment.

I called last week and was told that my card had been mailed out on November 1. Yesterday I called to let them know that i haven't received it and was worried that it had gotten lost in the mail, and was told that it may take up to a week for mail to leave the facility and to call back if I didn't receive it by the 23rd. Of course, I got it later yesterday. :-). So, it took 13 days from the day it was put in the mail by the SBSD CCW peeps (probably slightly delayed by the Veterans Day observance).

Does it have a postmark or metered postage date?
Normally they arrive within two days for me.
