I already have AZ, I'm only looking at UT to cover Washington. Oregon requires an in person application so I'll cross that bridge when I get there. That way I'll have the whole west covered other than the Rocky Mountain "High" state.

    Thanks
No mandatory prior training pre or post, but always recommended. You'll get Devore because AVGC is no longer doing the classes for the time being anyway.

Sweet. How long did they tell you it would be for the call?

        Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

You will go to Devore.... unless they are able to come up with an alternative by the time you are scheduled.
The AVGC instructor is retiring and last weekend was his last class.

Previous, you were either told where you would go, or may have been offered a choice. I was offered a choice... Jan 2 at AVGC or Jan 16 in Devore.
Jan 16 was the Ontario gun show (lol, didn't go anyways) so I opted for AV and was glad I did.

The only mandatory training is the class, however, to roughly quote/tightly paraphrase my instructor... "Our job is not to teach you how to shoot. Our job is to verify that you know how to shoot, and to teach you the basics of the laws regarding concealed carry"

Read that the same as a common closing statement from MSF motorcycle instructors... "Congratulations, you are now qualified to ride a 250cc motorcycle around a parking lot at speeds below 35mph. You now have your license to learn to ride"

Training is ALWAYS recommended, even for those of us who have been shooting since Americans were walking on the moon.

Not to get your hopes up, but lately they've been much quicker. Mine was 4.5 months (interview 9/7/16), and my buddy interviewed in November and he got called about two weeks after I did, about 2.5-3 months.

                Good luck.

Awesome basically going to forget about it and when I get the call I'll be happily surprised, any info you could give about the shooting requirements and I'm sorry if this has been discussed already

They told me that as well, but it was pretty fast for me...about 1.5 months.

I just went through my first renewal. Overall the whole process went really smooth, and I am impressed how the SBSD handles everything. Our instructor for the renewal class Deputy Diaz was very knowledgeable, had a very pro CCW attitude, and made the class as fun as a CCW class could be.

Here is a rough idea of my timeline

Oct 2016- Received a renewal packet from SBSD with all instructions, & info
At this time I called in to schedule my renewal class for 2/21/17

Jan 2017- Took my renewal paperwork into the SBSD office to turn in, & pay
my fees. Very easy process, signed my paperwork at the office,
handed over my USPS MO, and answered a couple questions. At
this time they gave me a Range card, & schedule for available
dates to qualify with my new weapons.

Feb 2017- Went to the SBSD shooting range to qualify my new guns. The
whole process took about 2 hrs with a good size crowd waiting to
                          shoot.

Feb 21 2017- Went to the Rancho Cucamonga City council chambers for the
renewal class. Simple check in, hand over your USPS mo for
the class, and wait for class to start. We had a large group
of about 200 attend the renewal class. It started about 6:00,
and we finished up about 9:00. After class ended they had
renewal permits ready for a good portion of the class. So I
ended up leaving with my new permit, and done for at least
                          another 2 years.

JTC, When did the old permit expire? How many months before expiration did you turn in renewal? Were you able to carry at any of those locations?

Congratulations and thanks for the information.

My old permit does not expire until mid April. They let you start the whole process about 90 days out from expiration. So for me it only took about 45 days to complete.

Sorry, no carrying at the Rancho facility or any of the Sheriff stations.
