But to add a gun to the CCW after it is issued.... is it a pain and take 6 months or happens easy/quickly?

      What is the process?

      thanks again!!
      .
      .
I just added one last week. It would have been nice to know when I called for information that I would have to qualify (The lady there is new and very nice, sh*t happens). I added one last year and I did not have to QF. I have to drive about 1-1/2 hours to get to SBD one way so now I have to take more time off work to go back to SBD to QF.

Call 909-473-2549 and schedule a QF time slot first!!! Make sure you give yourself extra time to get to the SO before you have to go to the range and bring a money order for $15. They will give you a QF slip to take to the range (AKA: Camp Snoopy)/(Glen Helen Rehabilitation Center).
Bring 2 magazines or speed loaders and I recommend a minimum of 20 rounds of new ammo (no reloads) a box would be better. (No holster needed) just like your CCW Class. You will have to shoot 5 reload and shoot 5 for each firearm you want to add. I know that's only ten, but if they ask you to re-shoot it again you will be thankful you have the extra rounds.

I was told that adding a firearm will take about a month to get your modified permit. You will have to take in your old one in order to pick up your new one. in my case I will mail my old one in and they mail me the new one I cant carry for about a week while I wait. Cheaper then $40 worth of gas in my truck!!!!

Take your time and get good hits........

      Good luck!!!!

Do you need each one to have a 'California Approved' lock? can you put a couple of guns into a pistol case and put a small padlock on it?
You have to already have them locked up to transport them anyhow (maybe you just use the trunk)?

You will be sitting in the main Sheriff waiting room with everyone waiting to get finger printed and such. Guy next to me was pretty sketchy; would have liked my firearms not to have been locked up when he rattling off his priors to a detective.

I took mine in a soft sided range bag. They were nice but asked that I use a hard sided case next time. I also left it locked until they asked for it to be removed.

No mags or ammo at the sheriffs office either.

I don't see anywhere on their website or the instructions for the application a requirement of one year previous residence in the county. Can anyone provide proof?

Only proof I can give is that myself and 3 other friends had to provide proof.

I brought in my property tax bills and they were fine.

I kept looking for it too, which is why I asked here, since I figured current residents would have a better understanding of it.

                  I will definitely do this.

What did you need proof for? Proof of residency of over 1 year? They asked specifically for the 1 yr requirement?

I don't remember the specific wording in the requirement. I'll see if I still have the paper when I get home.

I used a couple consecutive property tax bills. I read that another guy used an old lease and his current.

This has a rev. date of 2-14. It doesn't call out one year but does list some other requirements.

I'm starting to doubt myself but I'm 99% sure it called for 1 year past residency.

Any locking hard case will do. I brought all of mine in the same locking briefcase.

I am OK with this. Last place I would want to be is in SO.s main office surrounded by a bunch of armed LEO's with an unsecured firearm. I think they call that suicide by cop, not smart.

NO AMMO what so ever. They reamed a guy big time for this while I was there.

When the time came I just placed my briefcase on the counter, unlocked the lock and spun it around facing the deputy so they could open and take possession. They returned it to me the same way when they were finished. I relocked it and left. I did not touch any of my weapons at any time. Made them feel safe which made me feel safe.

We already have the only reasonable Gun Control we need, It's called the Second Amendment and it's the government it controls.

the vibe I got from my interview.. they seemed more interested in 1 year future residency....

                            Update:

I just called and said I've been living here for 2-3 months. Their response: "Oh no, it would have to be at least a year. We'd have to see your property tax or lease agreement that's good for at least 9-12 months."

So basically they want 1 year of residency, and an additional 9-12 months of residency from date of application. Doesn't say it anywhere else on the websites or forms. I think they should either list the information, or revise their policies.

possibly there is no Penal Code that supports the time duration of residency...???

My residence is in San Bernardino county but I'm out of town for work a lot . I work in different states and don't come home on weekends to avoid long 10 hour drives. I have all the proper documentation to prove residence but the part that keeps me from applying for my ccw is the part where they want to interview my neighbors. I don't ever see them and if I do I just wave hi. What are they going to ask my neighbors.
Old problems are like dry poop, if you let the dry poop sit it doesn't smell but the minute you decide to stir the poop with a stick, the smell comes back. Moral of the story, Don't bring up old problems!
