I got great news as well . I too received my approval and have set my appt for issuance! Got my money order ready! I took my training class prior to my interview, to knock it out and in hopes of being approved! All I need now is to sign my paperwork.

What is the current situation with sending a app and getting an appointment?

" A friend said he filled out a app last year Oct and has been checking the site once in a while but keeps seeing We’re sorry there are currently no available appointments for new applicants.
We will keep your contact information on file and notify you via e-mail when
      additional appointments are published."

Does he need to keep checking the site for open appointments?

Your best bet is to check the appointment site multiple times a day and try to snag a cancellation. I had to do that for about 2 weeks before I was able to schedule an appointment.

As I have completed my process, my suggestion is get on the email list and keep it on your smartphone, the sheriffs office sends appt via email distribution! 100% positive! That's how I got my appt and interview

I have no proof, but I'm firmly convinced that SSD is "slow-rolling" all appointments (especially initial) to keep from issuing new LTC's.

There's absolutely no way they're as busy as they say they are.

Does anyone know of any current litigation vs. SSD regarding the unavailability of CCW appointments? I have been checking off/on for the past year and every time I go there they say they are not accepting new applications. If I cannot open-carry, and cannot concealed carry, then how is it my 2nd amendment rights are not being infringed?

I put my name on the email list back in November 2012 and have not heard anything, is this length of time normal. I have checked the site with no luck (no new appt.) and double checked my contact info! Ugh getting very impatient.....

I'm in the same boat, had my interview on 6/5. I emailed Amber Wong and was told I should hear in a day or two......

                    That was yesterday

Does anybody know about or has anybody had problems getting an issuance appointment? I ask because my mom just went online to schedule hers and the website is showing nothing available. When I got my LTC last year, the issuance appointment was the smoothest part of the process. I called Amber but just got a voicemail. Any input is appreciated.

Look at the number of residents in the county who might want appointments. The initial appointments are at least 20 minutes, which means 3 per hour on the days on which they have the appointments.

The renewal and modification appointments are on other days of the week. The bureau that handles appointments is small, and staffed with reserve officers (mostly retired ones).

Remember that the primary focus of the department is court security, jail operation, and patrol. These other bureaus will have limited resources. Appointments are opened in groups at intervals. There was a potential for no appointments earlier this year when the bureau might have to locate to another bureau, but that hasn't happened yet.

My advice - keep watching the site for appointments. There should be dates opening at some point.

Thanks for your input Mark. I've been through the process myself. It took me about a year and a half to get my LTC so I know the appointment "game" so to speak. As I recall, when I got mine, initial interviews were conducted on Tuesday and issuance was on Thursday. I know a lot has changed in the last year. The reason I ask is that I've never seen a time where issuance and modification appointments were not available at all. I guess I'm just curious if anybody knows why that would be.

Issuance, modification, and renewal appointments are for people who have already been through the initial process - much faster. There is a lot of activity in the initial process that does not need to be fully repeated as your records and x-ref number are already on file.

Finally!!!! After over a year of checking three times a day last year; I have scored an appointment! I'm so happy.
                                End gloating rant.
