Aahhhhh finally, the journey is complete. I received my Sacramento County concealed carry weapons permit "in person" this morning at the sheriffs office! Ironically I was waiting for the pomp and circumstance then It hit me this is CONCEALED CARRY dummy lol but it does feel amazing to exercise my 2nd amendment right Legally. Time to Walmart-walk!

My wife called about her appointment (6/27/13) since we haven't heard anything and Amber said that they hold they results for 30 days before sending the results out to the people.

Has anyone heard of this? When I had mine last year I was told the committie met every 2 weeks then it took a day or three to mail them.

Ok so I went to get my permit on wed and another guy was getting his too, the funny thing is he was being a jerk so they told him his would be mailed to him! I sat there quiet as a church mouse and walked out with mine in hand, it pays to have patience!

It's the same. There's a new form that's been available since late 2012, it looks way different than the old app.

Here's a good copy from the Marin County Sheriffs

Does anyone have any info regarding the SSD website not sending emails when appointments for a new permit are available? Ive been on the "mailing list" since last August and have entered my license into the online system only to be told Ill be emailed when appointments are available and haven't received a single one. Should I call instead?

The email thing will NEVER happen. I put mine in in October and never got one. Started checking the website twice a day (on the advice of some Calgunners - thanks again guys!) And got an appointment within a few weeks.

Put the website as a bookmark on your phone. I kept checking mine twice a day. One day there was green lettering instead of red (joy!). My initial appt is set for Oct 13th.

SSD only issues 300-350 slots once every 3-6 months and truthfully if you don't have a smartphone or computer with priority alerts for incoming messages from SSD, you may miss out. What happens is the list of 300-350 people get an email, and the website opens up the available slots. The slots go rapidly usually within 20 mins or less, that's why I said you need to have an email app with special alerts for SSD CCW incoming messages! I am living proof it works I did all that I have told you about and in got my permit Last Wednesday!

In all fairness unless another cal gunner knows different I believe you should check the website frequently as well as subscribe to this thread and get on the mailing list for a trainer such as LFI guns. You stand the maximum chance of being notified of available appointments.

I have two coworkers who has signed up for notification from SSD but only get their appointments because I had let them know that I heard from ccw trainer (LFI guns) that appointments were available. In both cases they didn't get a notification from SSD but were allowed by the appointment system to reserve appointments since they were in the system. confusing yes. fair probably not. does the resourceful bird still get the worm.... yep.

Whenever appointments have been made free they are usually all booked within hours from my experience.

Even if I miss out on the appointments, I should have received an email telling me that they were available. I have yet to receive a single contact from SSD. I am able to reply to an email within seconds of receipt so its not that I just was slow to respond.

I shall do that. It sounds like relying on just the SSD email list is not very reliable.

Yes Wes and joe did help out substantially! I'm gonna be getting more advanced training with them as soon as a level 2 class becomes avail! I strongly suggest lfi trainging or one on one training!

I had success with checking the site as I stumbled upon a slot that opened up because of a cancellation. So keep checking as people cancel all the time. I never got an email saying appts were available, but I have received emails from them since getting the initial appt. I don't think they email the whole list everytime.

wOOHOO! After listening to you guys and checking multiple times on the site, I got an initial appointment for next Wednesday. I do have two questions about the application,
                                1. It asks to lists traffic ticket info for the last 5 years. I pulled my driving record and it shows that I don't have anything derogatory on it even though I have got a red light camera violation but took traffic school for it. Does it need to be listed and how would I find the citation number for it as it was a few years ago?
                                2. It asks for info about any arrests regardless of disposition. I was detained for 12 hours and released without charges(was not given a court date or anything else and was told I was free to go) 6 or 7 years ago. Does this count as an arrest?
                                See ya mid February!
