Not true, the SO does not and will not approve classes or instructors. Any "DOJ certified instructor" can conduct your class.

Interesting. The instructor I used said he had to get approved by the SO. Perhaps that meant just supplying them with the DOJ certification?

The DOJ Instructor number just has to be on the certificate that he issues. As far as I've experienced, only Sac County does it that way. Every county is quite differrent and most are much more strict on the instructor's certifications.

Aside from notifying that I have moved, will there be any problems with having/ renewing my CCP in LA county when I got it originally in sac?
LAPD and LASO pretty much have a zero-issue CCW policy. If you are famous or somebody extremely important, you might, maybe, get one. If you are a regular schmoo, they aren't going to care. Both the Chief and Sheriff there are very anti-armed citizen.

My interview is at 10:30 this morning, wish me luck. I've been waiting since the middle of January. I think if the wait was shorter there would be less "fear" in it I guess. I'm horrified about the fact if I don't have something right I will have to wait another 6 months.

just went in today, the officers were both very friendly. basically just asked the questions on the sheet, even had some humor during some of the questions because they would repeat certain questions.

Cant wait to get my results!

You MUST take in a good cause statement. Simple one line "I wish to carry for self defense" is all you need with a date, signed and with your contact info.

I've got a question on residency... I live in Citrus Heights, which is of course in Sacramento County...

I've contacted Citrus Heights PD, and the response was, basically, "The Chief doesn't consider protection valid good cause."...So, the same old line...

Will SSD issue to residents of incorporated cities within Sacramento County?

State law says so. SCSO issues to all residents of sacramento county. Apply to the sheriff please.

You're 100% legit to apply with the Sheriff regardless of whether you live in the county or in any city within the county.
CA PC12050: (a)(1)(A)The sheriff of a county, upon proof that the person applying is of good moral character, that good cause exists for the issuance, and that the person applying satisfies any one of the conditions specified in subparagraph (D) and has completed a course of training as described in subparagraph (E), may issue to that person a license to carry a pistol, revolver, or other firearm capable of being concealed upon the person ...
                          (D) For the purpose of subparagraph (A), the applicant shall
satisfy any one of the following:
                          (i) Is a resident of the county or a city within the county.

My approval letter stated that I had to use one of the listed locations.
