I wonder if I took your original appointment. I filled out the form just recently ( Aug 10th ) and my original interview was March 2nd 2022. Checked the next morning and Dec 1st was open and I got it. Keep checking often to see if you can push it up. Good luck.

          Congratulations. It's a great feeling.

Looks like modifications are open again. When going through the app it has the option to do it and don't see on site where they aren't. Anyone did a modification lately? Want to add a G43 to my rotation.

I'm planning on selling the G19 that is currently one of the two on my permit. How do I go about notifying Sac County that the sale took place and the gun should be removed from my permit.

Do I have an opportunity to replace that gun with another one at the same time?

Sale of the gun, if done in CA through an FFL, will update the AFS to show the new ownership, but you need to keep a receipt just in case DOJ fails to get the record straight. You could also file the “No Longer in Possession” form to establish a record of transfer.

If you want to mod your license and replace the gun, the mod application may, or may not, get processed.

A number of years ago, the Sheriff capped weapon changes at 2-year renewals only. He did this because the office was swamped by new licensees wanting to change guns every couple of months.

That may or may not be the case today. It’ll cost you $15 to find out.
I forgot -- I would have to re-qualify with the new gun, right?

                        Renewal timeline:

9/21 3:00PM Submit renewal and supporting docs
9/22 8:54AM E-mail notifying me to upload missing doc (I accidentally uploaded my training certificate twice, but missed the Sheriff Qualification form.) Uploaded doc right away.
                        9/22 9:19AM Renewal approved

Less than 24 hours. I'm impressed.

Also, not sure if this story has been shared but the instructor gives out the certificates and signs them at the beginning of the class (@The Gun Range). During the instruction portion of the class, a woman photographed and uploaded her certificate with her renewal app. Sheriff's dept calls The Gun Range and asks if she is still in the class which is currently taking place. They say yes and the woman's renewal is denied and she is not eligible to re-apply for a permit for 2 years.
I think most people would not be this foolish but it's something to consider in the event that your class lets out early, don't submit your renewal until at least after the class was scheduled to end.

i dont understand why any instructor would sign and distribute certs BEFORE the training class takes place. i dont blame the person uploading it, i'm sure they were trying to get through the process as fast as they could just like the rest of us. i would blame the instructor. thats just a dumb thing to do. you dont get your degree then go to college, you dont get your license then take driving tests lol
