They're really counting a 22 rimfire caliber that pushes a 40 grain projectile 1050 fps (on the high end) as belonging to the same group of firearms as AR pistols?

I emailed the CCW group at Sac Sheriff and asked if .22lr was one of the prohibited rifle calibers they will not approve. Of note, my initial email implied that .22lr was dissimilar from intermediate center-fire rifle calibers they expressly prohibit on their website. Their response is below.

"You are correct that the .22LR is not on the Sheriff’s “forbidden caliber list”.* At the present time, the .22LR caliber weapon may be listed as one of the three weapons on a Sacramento County CCW permit."

Chalk this rumor up as more stupid gun shop talk BS.

This is a good clarification, although over the past 10 years, I’ve been in renewal classes which allowed .22 LR guns in the qualifications.

It’s on the cert agencies to make sure they don’t certify something not approved.

It would be helpful if the sheriff clarified publicly, but the concept of “it isn’t illegal, then it’s legal,” is something we don’t want to screw with.

ETA: For the crew that thinks a .22LR is insufficient for self defense, I’ve never seen anyone shot with a ..22LR protest that they weren’t shot with a bigger caliber.

                  Sac County Proof of Residency

Months ago I uploaded proof of residency. Utility bills, showing my service address and my mailing address. No where on the county ccw website does it say that both addresses have to be your residence.

I have my interview next Wednesday. Today I get a call from the county ccw office stating that they don't accept my proof of residency and I need 2 different things. ALL of my mail goes to a pmb. I have been approved in the last 3 months to purchase 2 guns with my proof of residency.

I have now tried to change bank statements and utility bills into my actual home address, but have them sent to me via email. (I NEVER receive any mail, and as a single woman, never give out my actual address)

I get an email from the ccw office that I only have until 5/26 to make another appointment or I will be removed and have to start over again. If by some miracle I can get a statement with my new address on it, I can't get an appointment and will have to start over again.

I am thinking about going to go down to the ccw to actually see if I can get anyone to actually understand the dilemma.

Similar situation happened with my wife. We recently got married and her name has changed, so they want it all to match her name. We only had like 3 days to get it fixed and were unable to, so now we have to wait until March of next year. Hopefully you can get all your documents in on time.

I have a mailing address (because I receive no mail at my residence) and I have my residence. All forms I submitted showed 1. service address (my actual home) 2. mailing address. NO WHERE does it say that both addresses have to be the same. It even states in the application, mailing address may be different than residence.

I did actually go to the office of ccw. I didn't bust down any door nor was I argumentative. They were nice, I was nice. I will tell you that the officer there said that they had had 3 other people just that day come in with the same issue. So it was not just me. They understood the problem. Apparently the state doj audited them 2 years ago and they no longer do it like in the past.

Before I even went to the ccw office I was working on trying to change utility bills into the residence address. At the time of going down there, I only had 1 that only shows residence. Others, they won't change for another 10 days, which means I miss out on my interview. I am now scheduled for March 2022. One of the officers trying to help even said, omg, your going to be pushed back for a very long time.

I am dismayed that even the supervising officer said he knows I live at the residence, but he can't do anything about it. It is not their fault, it is California's government rules. But don't get me started on that.

The supervisor also said the LEO also have to have the same proof of residency. I have family in LEO and will check to see if they have a problem, because they don't have their residence in their name, for safety reasons also.

I do think it is ironic that with the same proof I submitted to ccw office, I can buy a gun.....

And while the state is a "may issue" doesn't make it right. I would love to see that changed to "shall issue". But I will need to move to a different state for that.

And, if you frequently check the calendar, others will cancel (or lose) their appointments, and you will be able to move improve your position.

                              Best.
