Thanks for the input! Okay, that makes me feel better. All the FAQ’s that SSD offer don’t address the Training/Cert aspect;only the email states that the instructors have to be licensed by BSIS or the DOJ. I mainly didn’t want to get into something that didn’t lead to the ultimate end goal.

Now I’m a bit freaked out by “the course”. I’m a pretty solid range shooter and am comfortable with my firearms, but I’ve never shot with my off hand and had to cycle through reloades and such. Also will I be held to the more academy style grading system that professional security forces are held to since I’ll be in a crossover class? I don’t want to sound like an entitled millennial but I guess I can start checking out a bunch of YouTube videos to prepare visually at least.

          I was approved 11/7/18, yay.

Question, do we need an appointment to pick up our papers?

Did your approval notice discuss this? I haven’t seen the new system at work for initial issue, but I would think the approval would contain “next step” info.

THe longest part - with least control - is waiting for the interview appointment. I applied ~ September 10th and immediately went online to schedule my appointment and the next available was Feb 6, 2019. They only interview on Mondays and Wednesday’s. I am ocd so I logged on every single day thereafter searching for people who cancelled or rescheduled. I was lucky to find a cancellation for October 23rd if I recall. Otherwise, it’s an immediate 6th month wait just to get to the interview. Once you get through that it goes pretty quick. After the interview the subcommittee meets every other Thursday and then you get the email to take the class, print, and submit 2 additional proof of residence.

It’s arduous but if you’re on top of it it can go quicker...

My 2-day class is Niv 19th & 20th and Ive already printed. Once I get the class docs, I’ll upload them with my proof of residency and I’ll be ready for the head honchos desk.

Ha...when this all first started it was well over a year to get an appointment.

Im passing about 7 years this December. My first appt was about 14 months out from the day I reserved the date.

When I shot the CoF with a S&W 649 (5-shot), the instructor cut the rounds to 5 when six were required. There was enough time available to work the reloads to fire the full six/twelve round requirement.
