Does anyone know if you lose your permit or ability to renew if you move from Sac County to Sac City ?

i had a CCW for six years in Sacramento and only applied for it the last time because my daughter asked me to go with her when she got hers. Right after passing we were told our CCW's had been revoked even though nothing changed. Apparently someone made a "moral" decision without specified reason we did not qualify. We were threatened with arrest if we did not deliver out CCW's within, i believe, 24 hours. I told them to go to he-- and would mail it back since they mailed it to me. I also demanded my money back and got it. I informed Arizona, where i also have a CCW, of what occurred and asked if they wanted their CCW back and actually sent it to them voluntarily. They tried contacting the Sacramento sheriff's office and could never get a straight answer. Arizona decided I broke no laws and returned mine that i sent them in advance. They have since renewed it for five years. Something is terribly wrong in Sacramento county and it seems it started going wrong when our sheriff started getting sued for sexual misconduct in office and wanted to replace Bera in congress. The sheriff could not pass his own check if he were a private citizen. All he has done in my personal opinion is turned the CCW process political in this county, made it one of the most expensive processes for CCW in the state, and has one of the highest revocation rates that is not defendable in objective terms or standards. also note I am a federally licensed C&R collector and have been for many years, had my house and records checked by the feds, state and county with no violations noted or cited in 2014, hold a CCW elsewhere, and a clean record with ATF all my life. But I guess that is not enough for the Sacramento's sheriff

I suspect the email came from Permitium, and not SSD. The system is so screwed up that, if you are missing a single document, it will blast you for resubmittal of everything. On my recent renewal, SSD wanted me to reduce the guns from 5 to 3, and put a hold in the system. Permitium emailed me that the app was on hold due to an outstanding court action, and I needed to go to the local courts and get it cleared.

I pushed an email to SSD and called, and they cleared it within minutes. Then they asked if they could get a copy of the Permitium email so they could beat on the vendor.

And you have not even the slightest inkling of what it might be?

All he has done in my personal opinion is turned the CCW process political in this county...

I just renewed for the 3rd time. As usual, there were no problems at all.

It seems odd that both you and your daughter would be revoked at the same time and not understand why.

As far as the Sheriff making the CCW process political, I don't think the facts track with that conclusion. Heck, even OBG keeps getting renewed, and he's a Democrat(ish) kinda folk.

The politicians (McCarty, Steinberg) and the Sacramento Bee drove the political backblast in the county as an attempt to give Ami Bera an edge in the election. In spite of that, the Sheriff continues to support CCW.

That e-mail is sent out where there's a problem with one or more items in your paperwork. Your best bet is to thoroughly review all of your paperwork and make sure there are no mistakes and that you have submitted everything they asked for. I can say that the most common reason for that e-mail is that the range qualification form has something crossed out or handwritten in over the top of a field that was initially typed in. If that's the case, you'll need to contact your instructor to get a new range qualification form.

CA PC 26150 allows the Sheriff to issue to anyone who resides within the county or within a city in the county. You will not lose anything if you move from Sac county into Sac city limits. You will need to notify ccw@sacsheriff.com in writing within 10 days of the move, that you have moved. Then, you will need to do a permit modification to get a new permit with your new address on it. Just to be thorough, you don't need to do anything with training or gun qualifications for this and your permit expiration will not change.

I think its more of a bug. Upon approval the site required me to click a box acknowledging the request for additional docs & live scan (qualifications, training, and residency again) the box doesn't list any details then. But this time the new box pretty much reiterate the requirements again.

At least one person who had LiveScan done at the end of January got an automated message to upload training documents when the DOJ system is still showing in progress.
