You can take the training any time you like. But if your livescan comes back and you are not approved you are out the money and time you spent on the class. If you know you are clean than I say go get it done. That way as soon as your livescan is approved you can just set an issuance appointment. That's what I did. I did my livescan and than took a class 3 days later. 97 days after I started livescan I got notification of approval and set my appointment and had my permit in hand less than a week later.

So I had my appointment last Wednesday the 17th and got my approval email to move on to Livescan this morning... Is this normal? I was mentally prepping for the long haul but this was a shock.

Nice, but you will grow old waiting for the livescan results. I'm approaching four months and suspect it might take another month.

Just the way our DOJ messes with you...not the Sheriff's fault

I got my approval just a couple days after my interview. It all depends on when you interviewed in relation to when the deciders meet. You just passed the fast and easy part. Now you have to wait for livescan. That may take a while. Right now they are telling people livescan is taking 120 days or more.

Good luck. I hope your journey is smooth.

Gives me time to work some OT for a new carry gun...
What are good options for the training in the area?

Tons of options for training around here. I took the course at The Gun Range on Watt Ave.

Your right about getting another carry gun. Try to get all 3 of your guns before your issuance if you can. At one time we could get modification appointment alomst anytime to add or drop a firearm. Now it's basically impossible. You end up having to wait until your renewal.

Take sapperforward advise, I only have one carry gun on my ccw license and i regret not adding 2 more. 1 more year until my renewal [emoji30][emoji30]

Seems like SSD has completely stopped all appts for new permits.

You don't have to have them all before you take your training, just before your issuance. Here's what I mean. You can take the class with one gun now and have that end covered and than pick up the other two pistols before your issuance appointment and just go to the range and qualify on them real fast.

When I took my class I only had one pistol for ccw. I took the class and during my 90 plus day livescan wait I picked up a couple other pistols and ran down to Cordova Shooting center. $35.00 later and I had qualified on my two new pistol. Than I just brought all my paperwork to my issuance appointment.

Or you could save the $35.00 and just get all three guns before your class and qualify on them all during your ccw class.

They haven't stopped, they just don't have any available appointments for the time being. You just have to be on the lookout for cancellations. Also when they release a new block of appointments, those fill up fast. About a month ago I started looking for an appointment and snagged a cancellation. I got approved to move forward and have done my livescan, so now I'm also in the long wait...

You conclude this based on what?
Like granular silica through an equatorially constricted chronographic vessel, so are the circadian georotations of our metabolic persistences.

This is CalGuns...you don't need a basis for anything, here.

(Although I do base that upon my observations over the past few years.)
