The folks running the SSD program are really nice and customer friendly. If you have an issue arise which needs to be addressed, contact them and see what can be worked out.

    Best.

So the guns that SSD asks you on the initial app that you would like to carry with, is this set in stone, or do you have time to change it before your last interview? I have a jailed CZ that most likely will be my only carry weapon I will use, but wondering if I should put two other guns as back ups for now (a 1911 and another 9mm)?

The guns for which you show proof of training and certification at your issuance appointment are the ones put on your permit.

Went in for my first renewal today. I was in and out in 15 minutes, renewed permit in hand. I'm still more than a little frustrated at the cost of renewal, but I can't complain about how fast and efficient this process was at the Sheriffs office. It's also frustrating that we have to jump thru these hoops to exercise a Constitutional Right.

Did my initial on Feb 11th and received my approval email yesterday, about 2 weeks time all said and done. Instructions shows 2 livescan locations (65th or Rancho) and said I had 6 months to get everything done or have my app pended, ie start the entire process over.

Well, darn. My initial was February 10, and I haven't heard back yet.

Another data point for you all, my friend did her initial on Feb 19th and also received her approval this past Thursday the 26th, so only a week. For reference, we both have squeaky clean records.

Man, I wonder what the issue with me is. I also have a squeaky clean record, and have been through Live Scan checks previously for work, so I expected to sail through. I have a fairly common name, so maybe that's the cause of it.

I had my initial on Feb 10 and haven't received anything yet either...

Can I ask what the turnaround time was for the Livescan results. When did you have it done?

Hey Calalum, that alias thing can definitely be a problem. A few years ago I was at an airport and I was pulled out of line after they looked at my ID. Boys in blue showed up and started questioning me. I thought I was in a twilight zone episode. They were just about to cuff and stuff me when dispatch came back on the description of a guy with my common-ish name (that they were really looking for). Luckily for me he was from a very obviously different ethnicity else I would have had the pleasure of seeing what the LA county jail looks like.

Also lucky I had a change of shorts in my carry on.

                              Ha!

3/2 Update: Applied 2/10, and still no email. Based on when the Thursday committee meetings are scheduled and that emails seem to usually go out Thursday-Monday, it looks like I'm now going to be in the 3/16 group.

I emailed the sheriff yesterday because my initial was Feb10, They replied within 3 minutes saying "Still no word. Should hear something between now and next week"
