Could you describe more on the qual process and what that looks like? Is it out of a certain number of shots, and what's the score you need to obtain?

Also, has anyone ever used their cell-phone bill as a proof of residency for their initial interview?

I'm one of those grad school students that has a "rent lease" from their parents and uses a car that is registered under the parents' name. So I'm wondering what I can use for my second proof of residency?

.... and one last question: on step 3 on the sac sheriffs website for the ccw process it says to provide, "a separate written statement listing the reason you wish to have a CCW permit", and I'm wondering if this is done in a certain format, like a memo or a letter?

any type of bill will work as long as it is the bill for that current month and has your name/address on it. i brought my renter's insurance bill in and since i dont pay it monthly, they didnt accept it but allowed me to complete my interview. they also advised me to make sure everything is in order before my issuance appointment

your separate written statement should say nothing more than "i want the means to protect myself and my family from harm".

then date it and dont sign it until you're in the presence of the interviewing officer.

Pistol qualifications differ from place to place in the county, their is no set standard. At Cordova Shooting Center it is just firing 30 rounds at a target 15 yards away with no time limit. Hit the man sized silhouette and you pass. Score must be 255 of 300. If you have done even a little pistol shooting you should pass no problem.

It's a statewide application. In Sacramento County, the explanation of Good Cause is "self-defense and defense of my family". You don't need a "for example".

And, regardless of a Sheriff's positive view of issuance, nowhere in California is "shall issue."
I put, " i wish to obtain a ccw permit to better protect myself and my family " that was it. The interviewing officer said it was perfect. Don't over think it.

I did mine as a letter to Sheriff Jones.

                          Nothing but this above.

This was that case in the recent past... but as of last week they are not taking mods even if you call.

I was told they are too busy with new applicants at the moment. The said to call/try again in two weeks.
