      Thanks.

I would think that we would be able to use the same GC but someone had posted earlier that they were instructed by their BI to reword it.

I just went through the renewal process and was approved in February. I used the same GC from my initial application, copy and pasted it. Approved without issue. If there is something your BI investigator doesn't like they will let you know, and offer direction on requested changes.

Does anybody think a significant number of different results is a realistic possibility? I'd love to hear the reasoning.
Why would an interview of any kind be necessary?

"That, detective, is the right question."

Personally I don't think it really would make a difference in the vast majority of cases unless there is something in the GC, background check, or answers to the questions on the applications that requires some further explanation. I don't see why it could not be skipped all together in cases with a clean background and clear GC.

I think the interview requirement will remain because it gives the agency a sense of control (regardless of its utility), and because they are afraid of the PR consequences if they issue a permit without an interview and the holder commits a crime. They are immune by state law from any liability for issuing a permit or for not issuing.

I'll even go one step further. There is no reason, even under current state law, that it could not work just like it does in Nevada.

Did you complete and sign the application? Check.
Did you provide proof of identity and address? Check
Did your background check come back OK? Check.
Did you take the class? Check.
Did you pay the fee? Check.

Come in, get your picture taken and your permit will be issued.

It's all done with clerk level people in just a few minutes of actual effort. It's fast and efficient, and pretty much like getting your driver's license, except it's at the police station rather than the DMV.

Hey fellow CCW holders, I am renewing for the first time. I don't recall from before, do I have to call Ben Clarke training center to register for a class? I couldn't find anything online.

I emailed my deputy and he instructed me to apply online Renew CCW application. Then about a month or two out from your interview date email again that you want to do the renewal class and qualify at Ben Clark and they will sign you up.

What seems to be the current lead time for livescan? Mine was 2 weeks ago and haven't heard anything.

Mine was also two weeks ago and still shows Firearms in Progress.

                            Give it time...

They seem to be getting slower. There was just a post in the San Bernardino CCW forum from someone who was waiting 7 weeks. Apparently, LA is telling folks it could take 90 days.

01/13/22 - Submitted renewal app with all required paperwork
03/24/22 - Telephonic interview, lasted 3 minutes and 19 seconds
03/25/22 - Received notice of renewal approval.

My expiration date isn't until 06/25/22. My investigator told me to wait until 06/20 before I go to pickup my renewal.

Nice to see renewals go quickly. Afterall, we've demonstrated good, well, everything. Push renewals out to 5 years after the first @ 2?
