I read that it would be the 3rd, but either way it's a good thing!

The appointments are down to a few months. It may take a while after January for the department/process to get overhauled but what the heck, it'll be here in no time! Go Bianco!

Just filled out application/called for an appointment. No answer, so I left a message.
So far my time line is:

11/4/18: Left message regarding interview
11/6/18: Received call, was told September 2019, BUT was repeatedly told I'd receive another call and my interview wait time/appointment would be at least cut in half.

Based on what I'm seeing here, hopefully it will be sooner than 5ish months.

Renewal Time

My license expires in February 2019 so I emailed on Thursday and received an answer within 2 hours. My appointment is January 8th.

I have 6 weeks between my appointment and renewal. Last time my renewal took almost 2 months, but the holidays threw a wrench in my timeline.

Hoping for a smooth and easy renewal.

I'm in the same boat. Mine expires in April. I was planning on emailing them after the first of the year. I just started looking at this thread again last week and it appears that things have improved over the past 2 years. And with the new sheriff it could improve even more.

But let's say (hypothetically of course), that a 9mm handgun was purchased during the good old days of SSE.

Suppose that the DROS paperwork says that it's a .25 caliber?

Would this be an issue to the RCSO, since they don't allow anything smaller than .380?

Weapons are inspected and ser. #s recorded. Everything better be kosher. They don't need/ask for the DROS, so it might not be an issue at all. I wonder though if that might be a liability exposure later if an event happened. They just ask "are these guns registered to you in California?"

P.S. I may not know what I'm talking about.

This is correct. My Ruger LCP was DROS'd as a .38 when it is a .380. This was found when they were processing my renewal. Dep. Aguirre asked if I wanted to get the DROS changed and then resubmit the renewal. I knew that this would delay my renewal and I did not want to have a lapse of CCW coverage. Since I was putting 6 guns on my permit I decided to just leave that one off since I rarely carry it except as a BUG when I'm going to a suspect area. If the caliber of your gun isn't matching the DROS it will NOT go on your permit.

According to the FAQ it is SIX.
