Correct. A lot of the restrictions have been removed that used to be in place. Now it's just caliber, trigger pull weight, and proficiency.

When do they check for trigger pull weight? When I qualified that wasn't part of the process.

I just called & left a voicemail stating that I want to turn in an application packet, so my question is do they actually call back ?? Is it possible to walk in without an appointment & be able to turn in the application?

You cannot do that. You'll have to wait for your appointment and then you will asked to bring your application and other materials with you.

They don't check for precise pull weight but they will dry fire your weapons while they examine them.

Just to elaborate on Sublimes response:

The current process is to call and leave a voicemail to request an Interview Date. You should receive a return phone call with a date. The date will be sometime in early 2018. Yes, 2018. I know that sucks to hear, but it's the current reality. At that Interview you will turn in your Application and review it with the Deputy.

As for a call back. There seems to be no consistency in that process. Some people state having received a call back the same day. Some, never. So use your own discretion on how aggressive you pursue a call back.

How can I legally challenge Sniff's 2 year waiting period and failure to schedule an interview? He is clearly violating recent law via delay tactics. Any suggestions as to pre-lawsuit preparations?

The first step would be to contact an attorney and discuss a potential lawsuit with them. They would be the only ones qualified to give you advice on how to proceed if that's the road you want to go down.

Or, you can wait a little longer until this next budget is passed and see if the Sheriff's request for additional personnel from the BoS goes through. If it does, then staffing will increase and wait times will go down.

I thought that I had read somewhere that calling was preferred but I looked again & didn't see it. I obviously have it mixed up with something else. Thanks for the feedback

I left messages on both phone numbers over the span of 3 weeks. No return call.

I emailed and got an email response about a week later.

                    June 2018.

So we're past 2 years now. That's frustrating.

No idea. Emailed CCW@riversidesheriff.org per website instructions. Whomever responded did so unprofessionally.

And totally unacceptable. I was originally scheduled to interview with the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Office but Redlands PD(I live in Redlands) decided to step up and handle CCWs for its residents. I picked up my CCW yesterday, 10 weeks from mailing my app and 8 weeks from when I interviewed. Not only should the county do something to pick up the pace but so should cities in Riverside County. If Redlands can do it so can other cities. I feel for you guys in Riverside!
