The address on the instruction sheet is the correct address for the CCW unit:
      Riverside County Sheriff
      CCW Unit
      Ben Clark Training Center
      16791 Davis Avenue
      Riverside, CA 92518
      (951) 486-2816

Also, your characterization regarding "burden"ing them is quite correct. They are busy enough as it is without having to answer a bunch of irrelevant or obvious questions. All would be better served if people would send an email with any non-urgent questions. I'm not saying your query regarding their location is a stupid one (we were told in USMC boot camp that the only stupid question is a question not asked) but the RCSD CCW unit would surely update their site if they were to actually move the facility. Right?

Thanks for the info. You would assume that, but when I spoke with the deputy a few months back they mentioned they would be moving where the interviews actually took place. I didn't ask at the time, but I had assumed he meant within the same building. That is why I asked.

I have not made an appointment because I do not think I can come up with a good clause statement. I am a second grade teacher for work. I don't have a side job that puts me in dangerous situations. I am at a loss for what I could put for a good clause statement. Do you really think I could put something that would qualify me?

Yes absolutely. Especially considering you'll have almost 2 years to make it happen.

You can totally justify a good cause statement. It just takes some thought and a little word smithing. I'm sure you have had some obscure run in with a parent, had some kind of physical threat, travel through bad neighborhoods at times, leave the security of your work place to your vehicle late at night etc.
                      good luck

Maybe, but since I wouldn't be able to CCW at school wouldn't that negate the need for carrying if an angry parent showed up or for when I leave my work late at night? I need two letters of reference and I have to tell my work right? That might be tough telling my school district I have a CCW : )

You are not at risk of angry parents only while on campus. They can easily follow you from the school to home and other areas. But aside from that aspect, I am fairly certain that with less than an hour of brain storming we could come up with non school related GC for you.

Also, you need THREE letters, not two. They do not have to come from employers. The work notification form seems to be hit or miss if they want you to do it. Lately it appears to be rarely used.
"Fight like you're the third monkey trying to get on Noah's Ark...".

The only thing that matters is rallying our cause to fight the enemy relentlessly, indifferent to the outcome of any particular battle

Just to add, if you've had some sort of physical threat, it has to be documented (Police report). I was denied due to lack of good cause. I had a death threat (graffiti by a gang with my name 'X'ed out). A photo was provided but that didn't fly.

Some ideas that may speed up the CCW Application process:

                              - Renew every 3 years instead of 2 years if possible.

-Apply online to renew, unless something has changed.

-Requalify by the type of gun, example: you carry 3 glocks, qualify with 1 gun

-Update the contents of the mandatory class, covering more on CCW do's and don'ts and CCW law updates/changes.

The renewal timeline for CCW is set in the laws. It can't be changed without a new law getting passed. Same for qualifications for the guns.

The CCW class curriculum is approved locally by each department. I don't see Riverside currently spending the manpower to update the curriculum when they are dying to just get interviews done. But it's a good idea.

I'm not sure if there's a reason you need to renew in person or not. But my understanding is that process is fairly easy and straightforward.
