So is this referring to modifications after you qualify with the gun or any modifications during the life of the firearm even before qualifying?

Question for the Riverside people who went the "pre approval" route. How long was it for you to get your permit issued once you did the training and qualifying?

I regret taking the pre-approval route. I feel it was a waste of time. I was approved and had I not taken the pre-approval route I would have had it in 3 months instead of 6. It added about 3 months to the process in my case.

So if I purchased a new Springfield XD .40 that came with Trijicon night sites I'll have to have them removed?

                      From Stan Sniff's Facebook Page

Carry Concealed Weapon (CCW) Update: The Riverside County Sheriff's Department has issued nearly 1,700 CCWs to residents of Riverside County - some 3 times the record of anytime in our County's history. In addition, there are currently over 400 completed applications being processed right now, with nearly 1,300 applications and interviews pending. At any given time since Dec 2nd, nearly 300 voicemails are being worked through by our CCW staff. There is currently a lot of interest in CCWs.

Wow. I can't even imagine a 300 voicemail backlog consistently for a month.

Also, if they have 1700 on the books, and 400 processing and 1300 outstanding then that means in the next 15 months they could double their permits.

I do not think sights are an issue, what I recall when I went through the Sheriff's CCW class, was no mechanical mods, example= lighter trigger pull, changing internal parts, exc. I could be wrong....I would try to call the Sheriff's range, or drive there before removing your sights, or try emailing one of the CCW unit deputys.

Sights are fine. Grips are fine. Riverside even allows Trigger mods as long as your trigger is above 4 pounds. Ive been told they don't look kindly on removing safeties and stuff like that (LCI).

Doesn't look like the deputies will be getting any help.
