Congratulations to all the new CALIFORNIA CCW permit carriers. Those guys in the Riverside county CCW unit guys are incredible. We should all try to remember the hard work they put in to try and get us these valuable cards with our names showing we are very responsible gun owners.
I don't know if it's against dept rules but, If you can, why not send them a thank you gift card (with $10, 25, whatever amount)to show we do appreciate the hard long hour work they do with sometimes no overtime. Just a token of appreciation. What do you guys think?

I have a question about safety courses. Is there a list of approved 'vendors' for safety courses and are they required to be live fire?

The reason I ask is that my wife is pregnant and we want to minimize lead exposure. I know there are classroom type classes but do those satisfy the requirement?

Also, is there a sample of a good cause statement that we could look at? I'm quite inept at starting letters like that.

Scheduled CCW appt- Nov Dec 2015 (soon after San Berdoo shooting) Called in Nov, got return call in Dec after San Berdoo
Interview- Jan 2017
Qualify- March 2017 (was told it's near impossible to add a firearm so I should have it all right off the bat. Couldn't get anything in Feb, so had to schedule for March)

Hang ups- LiveScan input my birthyear wrong, so had to redo LS
Office lost my photo for CCW card so had to redo that

Heard someone else got theirs 2mos after qualifying

Question regarding this: Is it allowed to do the live fire safety course before your interview or must it be after? The .pdf makes it sound like you have to have everything done after but it sure would be nice to have most everything done and ready before hand--especially that.

During the interview, I set up the qualifying

Someone had posted they did something at Raghaugees and did a 3 state deal, but not sure if it was before or after interview

Hopefully someone can chime in because I'm of no help

Because I remember I said (after being told my actual interview date) "Oh prob because of the San Berdoo shooting, huh?"

There were 2 back to backs in Colorado Springs, CO. 10/31 and 11/27. Maybe I finally called due to one of those and then by the time I got my call, San Berdoo happened 12/2

For those interested, Lt. Driscoll from the Murrieta PD will be holding a CCW workshop at the Murrieta Public Library on Monday, Sept 25 at 6pm. He'll be going over the basics and holding a Q&A session at the end...
