CA, FBI background check done April 18th, 2022
Interview done April 20th, 2022.
Firearms, still in progress........ 10 weeks and counting.

Sheriffs offices said they are averaging 3-5 months for completion. So I'm praying it's only a couple more weeks.

Anyone have any idea on the process of adding a new firearm onto a current existing application? First time applying and still waiting for my interview date in September... but I purchased a new firearm recently and wanted to add this onto my current app. Any thoughts?

If I were you, I'd add it on ASAP, from what people are saying on the forums, it'll be a while. Make use of the wait time.

I applied last week and have already been able to move up my interview from the beginning of January to the beginning of November. At this rate I might get the interview done before the livescan completes lol!

If you are a bit technical there is a way to be automatically notified as soon as a slot opens up.

If you aren't worried about potentially wasting some $$$ if you were to somehow be denied, start the livescan ASAP. You can start it after they give you the thumbs-up after the interview... but with the current turnaround time of 90 days I'd say it's worth it to just get it over with now.

Same thing with the training, you can do it while waiting for the interview or after. You'll speed things up getting it done before but you are potentially risking the cost of the training if you were to be denied. I also heard the training certificate expires 6 months after issue so keep that in mind as well.

You have to either check often to catch someone's cancelation or set up a bot, that will be checking it for you. The latter requires some IT skills and the sacred knowledge.

This is great info thank you for the quick reply. I've been checking manually daily for an earlier slot and could not find a way to automatically get notified for an earlier slot. Care to share some knowledge ?

07/11/22: Orange County Sheriff's CCW Application Submitted Successfully!

I actually now just received an email stating that the interview has been rescheduled to Sept 1 of this year.

Earliest appointment still shows Jan 2, 2029
I hope i get this email soon also.
