    Welcome.

As Albs said, no need for anything not specifically indicated in the application materials.

A clear good cause statement will get you there.

All indications are that those with a clean record and reasonable statement are being approved.

Thanks for the welcome and responses. I'm training at Artemis and Steve has been so kind to review the GC aspects with me. So I think I'm in good shape there as well as being of clean record.

Interesting thing though: today I received an email confirming a new initial appointment date that's pushed out 3 weeks later than the original date. Anyone else experience this as of late?

I'll give the CCW office a call just to be sure its now a typo in the email as well.
The more I know the less I don't know.

The good trainers review GC statements as a reassuring second set of eyes.

If OCSD is like all of the other counties, they are drowning in new apps.

Previously, many appointments were moved forward not back.

However, post-San Bernardino it is a different ballgame.

A call or an email might be wise to clarify your (new?) appointment date...

It wouldn't surprise me if some people were pulled from the CCW process to the jail escape investigation. No doubt finding those guys was an all hands on deck operation. Routine things like CCW approval likely took a back burner.

Just received a call from my investigating officer saying my background and finger prints have come back from the DOJ and they are submitting it to the L.T.

I did call the DOJ automated line earlier in the day and they still say IN PROCESS
My opinion on the CA Government:

Grats, you should hear back from them in 1-2 weeks to pick up your card.

It seems like we're more or less on the same track.

I neglected to get an ATI number or whatever it is when I had my LiveScan done, and the provider never got back to me about it, so I wasn't able to check the DOJ automated line to see where they stood with it.

However, I did call the OCSD CCW unit, and they told me that they have submitted my application for approval - do they mean the conditional approval, to go ahead with training? I know the conventional wisdom is to get the training done before approval, but because it seemed like the OCSD prefers a certain order to things, I decided to wait on the training, even though it will delay things.

I'm envious of all you guys getting your CCWs 6-8 months - my initial appointment never got moved up, and my wait time is approaching one year. I know the renewal process won't take this long, but it's a bit silly that the wait time is almost half the duration of the permit.

Gavin Newsom is a lying, cheating slickster and will be is the worst mistake California has ever made if he gets now that he has been elected Governor. Hollywood movie producers look to him and his oleaginous persona as a model for the corrupt "bad guy" politician character. This guy is so greasy, he could lubricate an entire arsenal of AR-15s just by breathing on them.

Your application only gets sent to the LT once they receive all live scan results and training certificate for the final stamp of approval. You will pick up your card after that.

Regarding conditional approval letter, they will usually send you an email and tell you to move forward with your training.

Since you never did your training, can you go into more detail about what OCSD said regarding your approval?

                      Nothing wrong with that.

I was just responding to Sam's question regarding it, since he wanted to go the conventional route.

It was quick conversation, I'd say less than a minute, so I might be getting confused as to the details. They said it's been sent for final approval, but they also said that I should be receiving an e-mail shortly.

I never got the conditional approval e-mail, so maybe that's what they were talking about.

In most cases, when they tell you it's being sent for a final approval, it means it's being sent to the LT. After that you'll receive an email within 1-2 weeks to pick up your card.

Would you say you have a common name? OCSD got confused with my friends because both of them have the same first and last name. It wasn't a big issue, but nonetheless can cause some confusion.

I suggest you email/call them again and ask them specifically if it's being sent to the LT or not.

My legal name most definitely won't be confused with anyone else's, but from some of the other information I've been reading about certain policy clarifications, there may be another reason for the delay. I should have asked the question whether I should proceed with training or not, but in any case, I should call them again.
