I checked the OCSD policy and was surprised to read that yes, they do want modifications checked.

How many have modified their firearm with night sights, or some other aftermarket part, and just carried it in modified form between renewals? I'm sure a decent number of people; this is maybe one of those areas where the letter of the law (modification = file for amendment, or don't carry until after renewal and reinspection) and the spirit of the law (safety first) are contrary to each other, to a certain extent. For many, particularly guys who have transitioned to reading glasses, a red dot could improve accuracy and, consequently, safety, but having to pay an add-a-gun fee and the related costs, just to jump through what amounts to a legal hoop, might cause some to hesitate, not following through with a modification or, at least, waiting to do it until renewal is near.

      Yes, mine was expedited.

But if you get a June date it will probably be bumped up eventually maybe March.

My initial permit interview was last Sunday (Nov 15) where I was told I was approved. If my memory serves me right, I believe the interviewer told me that someone will call me to process payment within 2(?) weeks and then a permit will be mailed to me.

Reading through some of the older posts back in September, it looks like you get an email notifying you that you're approved and then you have to call in to process payment. Is that correct and did I misinterpret what the interviewer told me?

They called me for payment, then mailed my permit which took a few days to arrive.

How long did you wait after your interview until they called you?

I'm on my 3rd renewal, so the time it took for my initial ccw is different than now.

Wow....today is 11/25/2020 and my initial CCW interview appointment is now 5/25/2021...ugg.

I think I saw it in an earlier post, is there any hope of getting called up earlier? or am I just screwed and have to be patient until the end of May?

I've literally done everything (livescan, training, uploaded all docs, supporting docs for good cause) just so that I could shorten the time between the interview and getting the CCW - assuming I get approved.

Yeah you will be moved up, unless you have a situation that requires immediate attention. Other than that I would guess being bumped up to March.

I got my interview done on 9/30 and had all the necessary paperwork uploaded, but still waiting. They said mine was in the final review process a few weeks ago. They did say that they are backed up due to COVID.

Hey guys im a little confused for the new application process. Based on what I see on the website.

Im supposed to submit the application with all of my info, and pay the new application fee at the same time? What if my good cause statement isnt good enough to qualify?

                            Thanks in advance.

You can submit application online, upload whatever document required with good cause statement, and schedule an interview first.

The training certificate and live scan can be done after interview (this is also recommended by OCSD). This will save you money if there any reason that the application was not approved.

On the OCSD webpage you can find the suggestion that do not choose any payment method while doing on-line application. OCSD will call you and collect payment only when your application is approved. Here is the highlights on OCSD webapge:

                                *****************
PLEASE SELECT PAY AT COUNTER WHEN PROMPTED TO PROCEED TO CHECKOUT. THE PAY AT COUNTER BUTTON IS LOCATED AT THE BOTTOM LEFT CORNER OF THAT SCREEN.

THE APPLICATION SITE IS NOT CURRENTLY ACCEPTING CREDIT CARD TRANSACTIONS, IF A CREDIT CARD IS ENTERED, FEES WILL BE REFUNDED TO YOU AND YOU WILL BE ASKED TO PAY IN PERSON ONCE A DECISION IS MADE ON YOUR APPLICATION.
                                *****************
