Applied June 2022. They had app accepted October 22. Just had interview over phone Nov teens. They tried to call first week but I missed the call. Said next step could be training email

The family and I were in Mojave, CA earlier this month which has turned into a real hell hole. We were pulling our RV through and needed to stop to feed our screaming baby, grab lunch and just try to collect ourselves and the kids to make the next stretch. It was hands down the. most. unsafe. I've ever felt, anywhere.

Needless to say we hustled out of there, but man, knowing that I was deprived of my ability to protect my family really got to me that day.

Mojave has been like that for some time now. We just pass on through now. The last time we stopped in for fuel, a guy came into the gas station store, opened a beer, drank it, and threw the empty back in the cooler.

Just drive on through and stop in Pearsonville about 58 miles north. They have a Subway, but that's about it. If you're pulling an RV, you can whip up something quick to eat. There is plenty of parking for RV's. You can fill up with fuel and hit the restroom. No more stopping in Mojave for us, unless it's mandatory.

A friend of mine had an interview scheduled for early January with LASD. He just got a text message stating his interview had been pushed back to July due to unforeseen circumstances. Has anyone else received this? It sounds new and I’m wondering if this has anything to do with the new laws coming next month.

I got the same text message and email via the Permitium system. The email states that they are still working on the backlog from 2022.

I think they pushed out the interview dates on Permitium by 6 months to account for the time to complete the rest of the 2022 and early 2023 backlog. I don't think it has to do with anything on the new laws coming next month considering that January 2024 interviews are when the new laws are already in effect.

I hope this new interview date is firm and there's no more rescheduling. I already completed my Live Scan in preparation for the January interview.

I'll have to do the training again come the new year - I had already completed it but the certificate is more than a year old.

What does everyone think about what California is now doing with the new instructor certification?

I?m worried we will have very few certified instructors as of 1/1/24 which will back up class and qualifications to god knows how long out.

From the LASD CCW site: "Persons who submitted an initial application on or before May 3, 2023, have been approved and scheduled a license pick up date, must bring a cashier?s check or money order in the amount of $120.00."
