    Can't find a direct source from CA DOJ, but two places that has details about CA Live Scans indicate that they are good for 1 year. Perhaps, call the Live Scan location to find out if they know how long they are good for.

    If anyone has better insight, please do correct me.

    The California Department of Justice (DOJ) requires that Live Scan providers retain a copy of the Request for Live Scan Service form for a period of 12 months. According to DOJ guidelines: 12-Month Retention Period: The form must be kept on file for 12 months in a locked storage medium. Destruction of the Form: After … Continue reading "How long do you keep the Request for Live Scan Service form?"

    The California Department of Justice (DOJ) regulates that any Live Scan Service Provider keep the Request For Live Scan Service Form for one year. Once a year has passed, Live Scan Providers are required to cross-shred and dispose of the document.

    The live scan results are valid for one year starting from the date you are scanned. After that time has expired you must get a new live scan even if it?s for the same thing.
    EDIT: According to Bangzoom's thread, LASD said that Live scans do not expire.

      Thanks for the info. I do have to go back to the place where I got my live scan because they wrote down my ATI number wrong so I?ll ask them then.

            I just got the same email and text. I was scheduled for Feb 2024 and now pushed back to Aug 2024 so it would be a 1 year wait from applying.

                    I took a quick scan through the LA Sheriff's approved instructor list (my issuing authority) - quite a few are CA DOJ certified.

                    I'm hopeful that MedicUp folks are CA DOJ certified myself but they're pausing sign-ups until the hearing in a few days.

                      As the regulation hasn't been implemented (yet goes into effect per the penal code 1/1/24) there are no "CA DOJ Certified CCW Instructors" and the
                      DOJ is not accepting applications (as the forms have not been approved). Limiting the pool of potential candidates to POST, BSIS and hypothetical State School instructors won't help.
                      No chance this would delay CCW issuance/ renewal if SB2 is allowed to be implemented, is there???

                        The way I read the rule the POST certified instructor must be a State of CA firearms instructor or rangemaster. The reason I read it that way is because of (1) BSIS, Dept of Consumer Affairs, State of CA-firearm training instructor. Section 1 is all one department, just long winded. Please correct me if Im wrong.

                        "(1) Bureau of Security and Investigative Services, Department of Consumer Affairs, State of California-Firearm Training Instructor;

                        (2) Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST), State of California Firearms Instructor or Rangemaster; or

                        (3) Authorization from a State of California accredited school to teach a firearm training course."

                          I concur. Very narrowly aimed.

                                hey guys, if I already have a CCW from OC and I'm moving to LA, would they expedite my application at all since I'm well vetted? I assume not, but just wondering
