there are many people that hope that will be his policy, but like AV, the Sheriff can do what he wants and just say "no". Hopefully not, time will tell. Until then, we will be waiting with baited breath....

As far as the County being inefficient, as a County Employee, I can vouch for that. We just negotiated a new contract that covers a period of 4/1/2022 - 3/31/2025. They paid us the raise portion of the contract in like June or July, but they STILL have not changed all the other financial gains like shift differential, Critical Care bonus, weekend bonus, and on and on even though they have known what it was since April. They just approved the contract on 12/06/2022, more than 8 months after it was agreed to!!! So that just demonstrates the efficiency of the County. Now, do I think it will take 8 months for the Sheriff to approve new letterhead? Probably not, but its not going to be overnight and all the old letterhead has to be destroyed, what a waste of paper and trees....

They asked for the check and proof of residency and went through my application. I showed them my livescan and had done my ccw training already. He took the ccw training paperwork, but said he would have to see if they're still valid after my application is approved or not. So, I recommend waiting on training unless you want to possibly retake the ccw training.

They had standard questions asked by the city attorney...how many drinks do you drink per week? Have you sold/used drugs? Been arrested? Involved in a lawsuit? Basic stuff.

I asked how long the process takes and I guess they have three layers of leadership it has to go through, but he told me I'd get a letter within 90 days.
One other thing, the detective asked to take a picture of me before I left. When I asked if this picture was going to be used for my CCW ID, he said no. It was for identification purposes. I guess they want to keep a record of who actually came in to answer questions. And yes, there were a lot of yes or no questions asked. I hesitated on one question because I didn't understand it. It was basically "are there any crimes you want to admit that you committed, but haven't gotten in trouble for?", but it was worded odd, so I hesitated because I didn't understand it. When he saw I didn't understand the question, he phrased it like I did in quotes.

I think different investigators use different tactics. When I was in Ventura, a buddy of mine was interviewed and he told me the interviewer was rough on him, but it was because he was trying to see how his response was going to be to certain questions and if he was going to argue back. The same detective interviewed me in Ventura, but he was really nice to me (probably because I used to be in the DA's office and he knew that). When the detective for the LAPD started asking questions, he told me these were questions that the LA City Attorney had drafted and they were yes or no questions.

After the interview the interviewer asked if he could take my picture with his phone, just stand up against the building wall (since the interview was held outdoors). I thought to myself the app never said anything about this, but some of my non resident ccws ask for a passport style pic so i guess it's ok, plus they have my driver license with my pic on it already; i couldve gave him a hard time and say the app never asked for it and my DL has it already but since they could have access to my pic anyway, i was compliant and said ok. he said the original officer who called me for an appt wanted pics of all applicants. so i did not want to give him cause to reject or slow down my app so i said "ok"

also be careful what you say, the interviewer writes down EVERYTHING. once i realized that i just gave "yes" or "no" answer as if i was in court. example: did you every get into a physical fight? overthinking this i said as a child, maybe 12, i play wrestled with my brother. the interview wrote this as my response in his sheet!!! i said it was just playing as kids. the interviewer said right, it's just like in high school sports, you may be on wrestling team and you had physical contact with an opponent. i said right good example.

so questions are meant to see if there is a pattern of behavior that would make you a danger, irresponsible, morally unfit etc (i.e. how many drinks do you have in a week, etc) or give them a valid reason to not issue.

By the way anyone here have the lapd use the psychological test or make you take one, i figure that is only if they really think you should not be issued and the psych test is another hoop to jump through.
also at least calif unlike other states dont require social media reviews and reference checks. just more hoops to jump thru.

Giving just yes or no answers would raise more flags than answering honestly, I told my interviewer that i had been in fights when i was younger, who didnt when they were young and stupid and i enjoyed a few drinks on the weekend. just be honest with them and it will come across in the interview.

With the talk of Freedom Week 2.0, does anyone know if there are any issues running (legally purchase) magaiznes over 10 rounds if this does come through today? Specifically for LASD issued CCWs incase that matters.

I gave "yes" or "no" answers (answering honestly) and the interviewer did not think it was odd or raise more flags. Like I said the interviewer said I was the first in L.A. to interview under the new standard and at the end the interviewer said to everyone around him (other cops observing since this was all new to them and they were learning too).....interview said out loud this is a perfect example of how these interviews should go, all paperwork was in order, money order ready, etc. He had no issues with my blunt and curt "yes" and "no" answers.

Apologies for not being in the know, but if you have a minute can you please explain freedom week 2.0? And how we will know if this is happening and where to make purchases?

                          Hey all,

If you are on the fence about getting an AZ CCW I would say do it. I copied a couple documents, used the same training as my CA CCW and, ran two sets of finger prints sent off the forms and less than a month later they sent me the card. Between the two I have enough coverage to the places I travel.

Technically they are legal to own and posses. However, whichever law enforcement pulls you over may or may not agree. If not, you would just have to go through the hassle of going to court to fight (you will win, no doubt about it). It's just a matter of if you want to risk going through all that trouble. You can refer to this case:

Personally, I don't want to risk of having to go through such hassle, so I'm planning to just carry a 10rd mag + 1 in the chamber and an extra 10rd mag. Should be enough to defend myself if such situation arise
