Picked up my permit earlier this morning at the Monterey Park station. Whole process from start to finish took exactly 15 months.

It's been a long wait, hopefully the renewal process will be a lot quicker. Time to get insurance, I'm thinking CCW Safe or Second Call. I just pray that I'll never have to put the insurance to use.

Great news. Im still waiting on my call although still wondering if you miss your first call do they call you again? I picked up a no caller ID call but no-one was there.

Is not having a utility bill in my name going to screw me over? I had my interview in April 2022 where I submitted my car registration. Got a email from CCW unit in July 2022 to provide utility bill or lease agreement since they no longer accept car registration. I provided my lease agreement and never heard back.

When I first interviewed in April of 2022, I had just moved so did not have a utility bill yet, updated DL, etc.. they told me to bring signed lease agreement, and proof of change of address forms. Fast forward to October, I got a call requesting a utility bill because they no longer accept a lease agreement.

You should be getting the call soon, mine came just after 5 weeks

Let's pray that Luna doesn't revoke the current CCW licenses out in the wild.

We're all waiting to see how he's going to handle this whole thing, renewals, those in the pipeline etc..

I've been out of the loop for a while so I apologize if this has been posted/answered in previous posts.

It's been about 5 months since NYSPRA vs Bruen decision. Has anyone been approved by LAPD? LAPD CCW website notes it's no longer requiring "good cause" so wondering if anyone has been able get a permit from them.

I haven't heard of anyone from LAPD being approved yet because they just started recently doing interviews, so think we have a little wait to see the first of those.

I went with CCW Safe, bought it the day I picked it up and they give you a virtual card until a physical one comes in the mail

What's usually the response time when they reach out to you, after your live scan is completed?

My FBI and Firearm scan has been completed. I'm only waiting for the phone call from them so I can register for the 8-hour ccw training.

I have a clean record, has anyone completed the CCW course before getting called to proceed with Training?

It will be an email, not a phone call. It really varies, there is no set timeline for it. If you look at a bunch of our timelines, you can get an idea. I think mine was a little over a month, maybe 6 weeks after livescan

Sometimes they leave a message (my dad missed his call, but they left a VM and a call back number!), others just get a message saying we will call back next time we make calls

I feel bad for Mr. Villanueva in a sense that I think his intent was in the right place. However, he lost much of the LA gun community when the CCW scandal came out. That was the last straw and the landslide loss is evident. When I found out that over 25% of the CCW Unit was busted for corruption (a cliche, it is parody), that was too much. And here is someone like me and many others - law abiding - not a dent in my record of any kind - and people with identical applications get permitted (they applied 1.5 months before me) and I did not likely due to this trainwreck.

Mr Villanueva screwed over quite a few people when LASD's CCW Unit suddenly started denying LG GC last year. Whether that was directly his decision or his minion undersheriff, who knows - regardless it was under his watch. This is not how you win the people that WANT to support you. You just have to make easy. He made it hard.

Hoping Luna doesn't mess with CCW too much. Remember, the GMC is still being used as a gauge and is still subjective. Every IA has different "standards". Just as an example, some IA's look back further than 5 years for anything that could dq you.

I personally think based on his history at the LBC that Luna is going to clamp down on CCWs, and in some cases may even recall ones that have already been issued that were "borderline" under his purview. This very thing happened a few years back when the OC Sherriff was replaced, and although she ultimately back pedaled, it took months for her position to change, and was only under multiple threats of litigation.

I think that ship has sailed, now that CCW's are going to be the norm the BOS and AG don't want to stop it, they just want to make them useless and more expensive. The BOS wants to raise the price for a permit to $450 to "cover costs" and if anything is left they want it to go to gun violence prevention programs.

I just did my phone interview on Saturday. Called from a spam number, they called two weeks prior but I didn’t pick it up because it was spam. I also was able to add an additional gun at this time. After the interview I submitted my drivers license and birth certificate and trash bill because that’s the only utility in my name.
