The application process isn't fair at all. I know a man who was issued in 3 months, applied late 2021 and worked in a courtroom.

I really want California's policies to bring it to the ground, tired of this backwards **** state that treats the average person like a peasant.

It is what it is for now...... At least we have a chance now to get one. I'll still take it lol. Better than what it was a few years back. Progress.

Sheriff Jim McDonnell issued 78 CCWs in 2018.
Sheriff Alex Villanueva issued 84 in 2019, 238 in 2020 and a total of 2085 by January 12, 2022 as documented in post #9508 by TheThreegs based on data regularly reported by Sheriff Villanueva in Instagram community meetings. That was 2085 issued out of 8605 applications with another 278 “in the hopper”.

We had Trump in the White House for two years with McConnell as Senate Majority Leader and Paul Ryan as Speaker of the House. Please remind me how many 2A advances were made during that window of golden opportunity?

National Constitutional Carry or even a national shall issue CCW standard? Nope.

National CCW reciprocity? Nope.

Hearing Protection Act? Nope.

AV has made good, in fact exceeded, on his promise to increase CCWs by 400%, to the benefit of a growing number of citizens. People are picking up their permits every week.

That is a real track record in a deep blue county, whereas the Republicans did nothing in their last two year window of opportunity.

Now we have the upcoming Supreme Court ruling in the New York State Rifle & Pistol Association, Inc. versus Bruen case to hang our hopes on next. But be prepared for it to be a less than overwhelming victory.

+2. While I now live in Nevada now, where they hand out Permits like cat house advertising cards to tourists on the Strip, be thankful any permits get issued in LA County. While I wished the system was first in, first out, GC Green, it is leaps and bounds better than it was a few years ago. I still have friends that live in LA County, they are not happy with the slow progress, but they are happy they at least have the opportunity to apply. Sometimes you need to let the boat continue it's course, work out the corrections later, rocking it isn't always a great idea.

Applied to LAPD in 2009 and was denied. The independent commission argued that the decision should be overturned and my permit granted, but it was again denied by LAPD chief.

Guys, please see stories like this and realize how much the circumstances have changed for us CCW hopefuls in the last year. Yes, it still takes too long, and yes the process requires a ton of patience and is a bit infuriating, but we've come a long way.

This! Review the post above from the guy who applied in 2009 but was turned down. We've had a major shift in approach to CCW's in LA County in just the last year thanks to Villanueva. It's not everything we want and there's still work to be done, but we're making progress.

Picked up.....AZ, UT, or NV?

Hello folks,

Picked up few days ago. It's been a long journey that lasted 13 months.

Which non resident CCW is the easiest to get among AZ, UT, or NV? Doesn't one of them take the CA CCW into consideration so you don't have to take a separate CCW class again?

Not carrying yet as I am still waiting to receive my belt & holster. Didn't anticipate picking up so quickly at the end so I wasn't prepared. Should have ordered them sooner and carry inside home to get used to it.

Received email on 12/9/2021 to resend the GC (Yellow)
Called on 05/12/2022 for status (Deputy put me on hold for 10 min looking for my file then asked me to send the training cert again. Received confirmation email right away)
Received the call to pickup on 05/16/2022
Picked up on 05/18/2022 at Monterey Park station (The approval letter was dated 03/22/2022 so looks like my file was stuck somewhere until the deputy found it. The license has the issue date of 05/18/2022)
