Nope, just slow

The required livescan is the same across counties. DOJ is slow and seems to be getting more backed up every day.

11 weeks seems to be pretty common right now, but you're already past that mark. If you ever had a security clearance, that can make it even slower. Maybe there are other folks coming back as results with similar names/birthdates that are requiring extra review time. I knew a guy with the same first name, last name and birthday as a felon. His middle name would save him, eventually. Always took a long time for any check.

Ok, you're posting in LA county ccw, the process may be different for your county, not sure.

Put a M&P Shield black in jail the other day for my 3rd pistol in my ccw list. Once out if jail I can take the firearms course in the ccw process. Glock 19 and 26 are the other two.

No photo and No list of firearms, So when you carry in a state which recognizes the Arizona CCW make sure to carry a valid state approved ID.

Applied for CCW in about September/October 2021. Dropped application off at Hall of Justice in Downtown.

Left application packet with Sheriff at door. He told me the following:
1. It will be at least 6 months before anyone touches your application

Called in about February 2022 for an update. Sheriff's office told me they are:
1. Overwhelmed
2. Super backed up
3. Under Staffed
4. No estimate on when
A. Just be patient

Have not heard a thing since?

The honest answer is you need to keep waiting, everything they said is true and it probably wont get touched for another few months. Many here waited for well over a year for the entire process to take place. It would only make sense that if you applied later (with thousands more applications already turned in) that your waiting time would also exponentially grow. I know its not what you want to hear but its the reality of what's going on right now. There are rumors that the CCW unit is expanding and getting more man power, hopefully it's true.

That's good info straight from where it counts. Last I heard on this forum they were processing August/Sept 2021 so there's hope that you will hear in the near future. There's a wait there for sure but the livescan (State level) was forever... I'm hoping to hear "proceed to training" this week.

Yeah it looks like they're just starting to call the August applications. I applied at the Imperial Hwy sheriffs station in South LA. They should be calling you real soon.

Btw can standard cap mags be carried with the LA County ccw permit throughout the state without repercussion or does it depend on the county you’re driving through?
