Do we know the percentage of applications the LASD is approving vs. denying? I think I recall that about a year ago the percentage of approvals was about 20-25%, with 75-80% denials. Am I remembering correctly? And is that about what the percentage remains more recently?

If you fit the criteria, you should be good to go (for now.) They have been becoming strict lately. Things are changing on the daily.

I wanted to touch base for some feecback here. I submitted my application in October of last year and the cashier's check was cashed in November.

Unfortunately, I have NOT HEARD BACK AT ALL and it's been over half-a-year.

You should go back and read the forum a bit, they are starting to work on August applicants now. This is a very long process.

I appreciate the feedback. I guess the only reason I ask is my friend, who submitted his application in June, got through pretty quick and easy.

I am required to do LiveScan's for my job. Previously in 2016 I was promoted and required to do another one. My LiveScan never cleared and my promotion was held up. I think it was due to an arrest I had in 1998 that I did not disclose on my application as that was the instructions not to include old charges. I found out that California was trying to get a copy of my arrest records and never received a response. I had to write a letter to my employer disclosing the arrest and my promotion went through.

What happens if this is still the case, that my CA portion never clears? I did disclose my arrest in 1998 on my CCW application but if there is no further information about it, does my CA portion just stay in limbo? Is there a time limit for LiveScan's to be completed?

Sounds like a sticky situation, hopefully the investigator understood and you can provide all the documents that's needed. It's going to show up on the livescan. Livescans are taking up to 10-11 weeks now but it keeps getting longer and longer.

I was in your position also lol. I had a longggggggg pause since my interview and receiving a call to provide more info. Best thing to do is to read the forum and going back about 4-8 months to read what others have been through. Good luck and be patient! At your interview, bring all required documents and documents backing up your GC (if applicable.) If you mention any cash/check deposits, make sure you have the latest bank statement showing that.

I have 2 friends that applied the middle of June. 1 has been interviewed and told to LiveScan, the other has his interview next week. Some will get a call quickly, others will be weeks behind even though they applied the same week. If you look in the thread, there are other June Applicants that have received their Permits. There is no rhyme or reason on how they process the applications.

I have a feeling there is a back door to fast tracking permits... Perhaps those that work for LASD, but are not Sworn staff, LAFD, LACFD... I have no proof to this, just speculation... Whatever, hopefully I clear soon and receive my proceed to training email...

That livescan is a long wait. I didn't think it was going to take me 11 weeks for it to clear or else I would of done it a long time ago.

Yeah, it is a bear of a wait. Its a crap shoot of doing it in advance and potentially loosing out on the cost and being seen as a person who cannot follow directions...
