Exactly. In states like ours, they can fault you anything, even simply changing grips

      Hey all,

Recently I got a new job that would require me to travel from work sites often, so maybe I might have a better chance to get a CCW (maybe a yellow GC). But seems like the current wait is about 6-8 months if not longer, that seems to line up with the upcoming sheriff election, should I still apply? What do you guys think?
      LA County CCW Progress:

03/30/2023: Received call to schedule for interview
      04/04/2023: Interview
06/23/2023: Received proceed to training email; replied same day (already did training before)
      08/14/2023: Received call for pickup

I suggest you apply. After June, the whole process is more than 10 months and counting. Get your spot in case the climate changes.

They'll argue in court that you changed the barrel to kill more accurately.
They'll argue in court that you changed the grips so that you hold your gun more firmly to kill more.
They'll argue in court that you changed the slide to turn a semi into auto to kill faster.

They can and will argue anything they want, if trigger mods are not allowed it would be stated somewhere clearly. It's not.

They can argue anything but i've heard from a bunch of people that a trigger change is a big no no. But then again it all depends on the prosecutor and the jury. At the end of the day, you're responsible for every bullet. So it's a no brainer to make the gun shoot as accurate as possible. A simple grip change can make a huge difference. But then again, the jury most likely doesn't know that because they've been bred to think that guns are evil and only criminals can have them.

Thanks for the information. That's more detail than I had for L.A. My San Diego training certificate does not have that info on barrel size and color.

Just got the call to pickup on Wednesday!! I would suggest anyone that is on the fence about applying to just do it. I, honestly, didn't think I was going to get it after my interview.

It's actually pretty complicated. USCCA has a good tool for this here:

By getting your Arizona non resident CCW...adds new Mexico on to your repricosity coverage...getting your Florida permit just adds Florida on to your coverage..I would definitely get Arizona..Utah adds Washington..... California alone is only 27 states repricosity ....but..by adding Arizona, Utah and Florida boosts it up more.
