If you were the business owner your GC would be Light Red.

While there’s no such thing as Light Yellow on the CA CCW GC map, there is such a thing as a weak Yellow GC: the business activities or valuables that put you at risk are not very great. ETA: similarly there’s weak vs strong versions of all the other GC colors.

I believe that was a mistype. Should have said 8105 applications received and 1861 permits approved and issued.

He made it sound like as long as you can be trusted but we all know that the deputies themselves have said certain good causes are a no go, regardless of how trustful your history is.

As crazy as this sounds to me, I actually think what IS considered acceptable, Villanueva has absolutely no idea. It sounds like it is totally up to the discretion of the undersheriff in charge. If what Villanueva said was true, a couple of the denials we have on this forum wouldn't have happened.
I think you and Immortal547 are both right.

As I point out and emphasize in my CCW Application Advice thread pinned at the top of the forum, GMC is critical. It is so critical that when the current sheriff of Monterey Co took over his was willing to accept SD = GC in exchange for pushing GMC high (back then requiring a LEO psych eval of every applicant).

Also I’ve heard numerous times from applicants to different IAs say that the IA will take whatever GMC evidence you have and factor it in. Going with only what they get themselves is like trying out for the SEALs when you can only pass the minimum PT scores (vs the competitive scores).

Last I’ve heard AV say a few times that he knows his political opponents are just waiting for a CCWer to do a bad shoot. That’s what he’s afraid of. What’s a bad shoot? Is it someone who’s GC was “frequently get cash from ATMs, fill up car and grocery shop all after dark” (Dark Green GC) and has to shoot an armed robber? Or is it the hot head jewelry shop owner (Light Red GC) who had a hellacious argument with his wife over breakfast about their rebellious teen son and daughter, road rages in commuter traffic and shoots at another driver? GMC is as critical as GC, MAYBE MORE! CCWfacts made an excellent post re GMC that I copied and added near the end of my Advice thread.

You are right in that I think there has been a disconnect between AV and the interviewing LEOs regarding the “standards” (GC and GMC) that must be met and that someone, to make it clear, consistent and objective decided to dump the more difficult to analyze and more time consuming LG GCs.

ETA: unless we hear of LGs getting issued by Christmas, the New Years map update will have LA Co go back to Yellow.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and speculate that the reason many of the recent LG GC are failing to get approval is precisely because the explanation written into the application sounds canned. By that I mean it sounds like every other LG statements that are being written because someone got wind of the fact that a few LG applicants were successful with X reasoning and they're basically doing a copycat. It doesn't matter if that's not true, it's the perception to the interviewing deputy and those with deciding authority and how they see your GC explanations. That's probably why there was that statement about an "individualized" reason for needing a CCW permit.

The timeline slipped from a few months Start-To-Finish for those in February to 8 months and counting for some of us in April... June could be a year or more all in at the rate they are going.

So the Firearms portion is not about your firearms it is about a check of you and your prior record(s)?
I wish today's liberals could understand: You cannot be generous by giving away other peoples' money and you cannot demonstrate your virtue by your willingness to give up other peoples' rights.

So the delay is not caused by the amount of firearms you own but rather by how many people are ahead of you in the queue.
