@vanidoso87: Given the backlogs, and depending on your timeline, it's entirely possible that you could train now, and 6 months could pass before your approval, so I would wait if it were me.

stating he spoke with LT this morning, wants to make the process more achievable but also wants to make it clear people disclose everything UP FRONT as they will find out through livescan.

Great news!

The first paragraph means the process should be streamlined, smoother and faster after the change. IOW he’s heard how long it’s been taking and is making this change in response (despite it’s disruption and costs). This has nothing to do with making GC or getting a CCW more achievable.

The second paragraph means he’s heard about the new denials. He’s spoken to the LT and told her to loosen issuance to AV’s previous standard (Light Green).

Last but not least, there’s no such thing as Too Much Information (TMI) for LASD when deciding if you have GMC. Better to over reveal than under.

All in all great news, even if we already heard about switching to online apps. For me the big thing is what this indicates: he didn’t back off from accepting LG GC and he isn’t buckling under the anti CCW pressure from the BoS. If you were denied recently you may want to ask to have your application reviewed again in a few weeks or once we hear of new LG GC approvals (the real acid test). But for now…

I should say what I posted above is purely my interpretation, not based on anything a source inside LASD has told me. That’s why I said the acid test is seeing if we start hearing of CGNers with LG GC AND strong evidence getting approved for training. Remember your evidence is as important as your GC just as your character is as important as your background check for GMC.

Yes. When AV first started accepting Yellow GCs he had his CCW people call up Yellows they had denied and told them they could reactivate their apps and get approved if they wanted. People forget how pro CCW AV has been and are too quick to think the sky is falling….

Interview isnt when they need your training. Approval is. And I would expect that to be 2-3 months after your interview...
