Arrested but case dropped, about to apply.

Hello, I am applying for my LAC ccw and saw a question about arrest history regardless of disposition. Back in 2010-2012 I was arrested for loitering, spent a few hours in jail and released. My case was then "dropped" by the DA due to lack of evidence. According to my research dropped means charges were never filed...as opposed to charges being filed then dismissed. I have tried to run background checks on myself and have come up with no arrest record. I am currently requesting a DOJ livescan criminal record on myself to see if it shows on my record. I had a lawyer at the time but I am unsure if she had my arrest "sealed and expunged" which I saw was a possibility if a case is dropped. This was 10-12 years ago and I can't find my original case or the lawyer as she retired.

My question is...if the DOj livescan shows no record do I still report the arrest?

If it shows up on your doj live scan then disclose it. Otherwise don't mention it.

You need to disclose it no matter what. If you don't disclose it off the bat they can just reject you right when they see your livescan and see you failed to mention it. I know of one member who forgot to put it in the app but told the interviewing deputy about it. Got a call a few months later with a not so happy deputy questioning him about it..so just cover your butt and disclose.

This. I did tell my interviewer about the time i was detained but told him it was not an arrest (which is true) and he already had the paperwork from that incident in his file. Had I not disclosed it I think he would have been very unhappy with me, to say the least. In his file he had it as an arrest but I was able to clear that up with him since I had disclosed it previously.

Disclose the same; AV in an interview said non-disclosure of previous arrests and/or encounter wth LEO and it shows in your background check is a mandatory denial. It goes with the character of the CCW applicant.

Thanks. I plan to disclose it but other than the 2010-2012 range and the dropped disposition I have no other information to provide. I just didn't want to appear vague like I was hiding anything. I am running my own livescan to at least show I am doing my due diligence in trying to find as much information as I can for them.
